Paul Krugman could write a whole book explaining why we should follow through with this petition:
Our favorite of these petitions this month has to be from Colorado man John D who, as we reported last week, wants the government to secure resources and funding to begin the construction of a Death Star by 2016.
His rationale for building the mega-weapon from the Star Wars movies is as much public works project than direct threat to the little green men who could be living below Mars surface.
By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense, he writes.

It would be more functional and cheaper then what we are spending on now
I’ve been hearing a lot about this, but I still can’t get it.
This is a huge joke, or....they’re trying to show how many people will sign ANYTHING, no matter how specious, as long as it purports to create jobs..?
Will someone fill me in..? I swear I just don’t get it.
We could print that up in a week.
So, over 25,000 morons (Democrats) think that increasing the size and power of government with a Death Star to control conservatives is a good idea.
Who is REALLY surprised by this (show of hands)??
"This is what I like to call a... 'Death Star'."
Of course they’d build a death star.
And hand it over to the muslims.
according a recent study it would cost $852,000,000,000,000,000 or 13,000 times the worlds GDP just to produce the steel required to build the weapon.
OK used bubblegum could be collected for 1 year . You would have some left over to make a new vacation home for Obama on the far side of the Moon
Somebody is full of crap and some idiots will sign anything.
Build a death star? We don’t even have a way to the Space Station we paid for.
Why build a death star?
Just hand out a billion dollars to everybody who would have worked on it, then nobody has to get up a 5AM every morning to go to work.
It would be just as useful (since we’re too PC to put a death star to good use anyway) and it would have the same effect on the economy.
