Rahm Wants New Gun Laws in Wake of Newtown School Shooting

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is looking for current gun laws to change.

"There is no parent and no grandparent in America that is not a resident to Sandy Hook, Conn.," Emanuel said Saturday afternoon while attending a ceremony for a new police building in District 12. "There is nobody that had their child last night, that didn't hold them a little closer, pull them in a little tighter, didn't hug them a little more.

Emanuel stressed a need for gun laws to assure an event like the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School does not happen in Chicago. The mayor is just one of many politicians in Illinois pushing for gun legislation pertaining to concealed carry of weapons.

The Newtown school shootings occurred the same week the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Illinois' ban on concealed carry weapons.

Lawmakers have 180 days to come up with a law legalizing the concealed carry of weapons.

Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy agrees with Emanuel's sense of urgency. Chicago's top cop suggested the nation needs a better firearm tracking system.

"A national recognition that there has to be some sort of tracking, not even gun control accountability for gun owners," he said on Saturday. "It doesn't mean you can't have your gun, but there's a requirement to report the lost, theft, or transfer of a firearm."

McCarthy explained most guns in Chicago are legally purchased, but illegally transferred into the city.

Emanuel will speak out again Saturday night during a vigil honoring the victims killed in Newtown, Conn., with Father Michael Pfleger.

Garry McCarthy is a real bright bulb isn't he? The shooter in CT didn't own any guns.

banning every gun in the US is the only possible gun-control measure that could plausibly achieve the results they seek. If there are any guns in the country, at all, presumably criminals will ignore laws against possessing them (as they currently ignore such laws) and also ignore laws against, well, shooting people with guns (several statutes cover this, pretty exhaustively, and yet they still ignore it).

So all gun control laws are aimed, essentially, at the one class of persons who have already demonstrated their intent to ignore gun laws. The laws are aimed at the very people who don’t obey them, but it is taken as an article of faith that if you just disarm the people who aren’t breaking the law, for some reason the criminally-minded will follow their lead.

Well, that’s absurd, obviously. The only way that a criminal who is determined to get a gun and use it for a criminal purpose will not have a gun is if there are literally no guns to be had— no guns to be stolen, no guns to be bought off Craigslist, no guns, period.

In that regime, I can see the argument that the 100% gun ban would greatly reduce gun violence. Although, of course, there are still lots of shootings in England, and lots of knifings, and in gun-control Germany there was an atrocious school-shooting a couple of years ago... but let’s say that such a regime at least greatly reduces gun crimes.

Trouble is, that regime is precisely what gun-control people say they’re not angling for.

I assume they’re lying. But if we’re going to “discuss” gun control, as the liberal party now insists, then let’s discuss it honestly. If you want to greatly reduce gun crime, down to European levels (where they still have gun crime, and knife crime, too), you’re going to have to outlaw almost all guns.

Ron, your problem is with Pelosi and about 80% of the House Democrats (and probably half of the Senate Democrats).

You, Bloomberg, and other mayors can call for gun control until the sky turns pink, but your friends that actually have to vote on it...and then try to get re-elected will not get near it, at all. It’s TOTALLY RADIOACTIVE to them.

Gun control advocates don’t care about reducing crime. They don’t care about tragedies like the CT school shooting. They will use this event to advance their true agenda: disarm free Americans so the NWO can turn us into slaves without any armed resistance. Republicans will go along with it, because like the Democrats, they serve the same master.

Is it possible that our own government, controlled by the NWO elite, gave the CT shooter mind control drugs and got him to shoot up school children, the most vulnerable and sympathetic victims you could find, to drum up support for disarming us? Nah, we can trust our government! They’d never do anything like that! Just like they wouldn’t stage 9/11 so they could enact the Patriot Act to take away our freedom...

Everything you see and read about this shooting is probably a lie.
