Adam Lanza: A 'Quiet, Odd' Loner Living On The Fringes
Hartford Courant ^ | 12/15/12 | JOSH KOVNER and EDMUND H. MAHONY,

Posted on 12/16/2012 6:40:36 AM PST by jimbo123

-snip-

Adam Lanza had lived with his mother in the 4,000-square-foot, $700,000 house. His parents were divorced in 2009.

He had two bedrooms that were clean and orderly when law officers swept into the house after the shootings Friday morning. Lanza apparently lived in one of the rooms and kept his computer gear and other items in the other one, the sources said. Law officers found evidence that Adam Lanza played graphically violent video games, the sources said.

“...lots of social pressures in many’affluent’ suburbs...”

The people I know who live in the wealthy or even just middle class suburban neighborhoods surrounding NYC (Rockland, Westchester, Fairfield, Bergen, Nassau, etc.)are extremely focused on “keeping up appearances” and sweeping trouble under the rug in order to seem perfect for their neighbors. I am sure this goes on the DC suburbs, etc., not limited to NYC. The children are prizes to be trotted out - who gets accepted into what school, etc. - if your kid isn’t fitting in there is lots of dysfunction that results. Nothing justifies this - but there is an unhealthy social dynamic out there that feeds into it.

Ban the damn drugs not the guns.

These people on these drugs weren't "normal" in the first place.

It's the the old "chicken and the egg" argument.

Was it the fact they were mentally ill first or the drugs the doctor prescribed them didn't work, were ineffective or the patient stopped taking them.

Like millions of gun owners, millions of people that take these drugs don't go on rampages...

So the father split and washed his hands of his son by sending hefty alimony checks to his ex wife and giving her the big house?

So sad. No father, he was also estranged from his brother...no male family figures in his life. No amount of $$ or Rx drugs can make up for that.

O.K.

Its interesting that the fathers of two recent “mass killers” are both in the financial services industry and both may know something about LIBOR and recent allegations about the manipulation of LIBOR.

Yet, what is that YOU think we are supposed to make about that “connection” - the two shooters, their fathers jobs and the LIBOR issue??

Or. is it just possible that the occupations and the personalities of the fathers in them are of the sort that make for remote (never around) and/or absent and/or uninvolved father figures??

Exactly, Jane. You don’t have to look much further than the Black community to see what happens due to the lack of a father figure.

Creepy if true. But the link for Robert Holmes goes to a wiki article for a Robert Holmes who is a British scriptwriter. Nothing to do with FICO. So not verified.

A lot of very normal kids/adults are fed all manner of anti-psychotic meds (and psychotropics as well) because liberal/PC doctors/school officials/other ‘professional’ types class them as depressed/ADHD/whatever when they are what was once considered ‘normal’.

Look at the history of communist countries and the use of psychiatry/drugs to alter whole groups of people.

That said, there are indeed crazy people that have no place outside an institution. Liberals made such places all but impossible to exist, threw psychotic and even profoundly retarded persons put on the streets/society in the name of civil rights and then resorted to the methods above to deal with it...all while creating all manner of govt jobs/bureaucracies to ‘manage them’.

When it goes to hell, they documentably blame guns/bullying and whatever PC BS they can to further their agenda, gain power and perpetuate the problem.

This will all be blamed on guns...you won’t hear much about violent video games.

Neither guns nor video games are to blame - the shooter is to blame. There are millions of responsible gun owners for every nut who chooses to use a gun in his crimes. There are even more millions of responsible video game players for every nut who happens to have some video games in his room at home.

Having played all manner of Video games since the 80s (and D&D before then, I have probably killed tens of thousands of fantasy creatures/zombies/virtual humans.

Not once have I killed a real human.

So I and millions like me are exceptions to the ‘video games “CAUSE” violence” meme or the meme is full of not so virtual crap.

Simple fact. It cannot be both ways.

Remember when the maid killed those two children in NYC a couple of months ago? Wasn’t the children’s father involved in some kind of financial fraud?

The article quotes a boy who said he sat next to Adam in homeroom when they were high school seniors. I heard on the news that his mother pulled him out of school when he was a sophomore and homeschooled him. I don’t remember a news story where the media got so much wrong.

And another states the 2010 yearbook has the statement "camera shy" instead of his picture. Ninty percent of what we heard on day 1 was wrong and it's not improving any.

Combo of factors...Drugs broken home violent desensitizing vids.
Guns just happened to be in the house....If they were not something else some time some where would have probably happened.

I will veture to say the mother tried to stope the little ahole and he took here out.

Very possible. Unfortunately we’ll probably never know the truth one way or the other.

I find it interesting that people think that the banning of guns will stop violence. History is filled with people killing each other with knives/rocks/fists.

Mark my words. If the libs get their way and start massively restricting guns, there will be a widespread increase in car murders, gas bombings and every other method of killing.

Look at the UK today. Knife crime skyrocketed. And what do they propose? Knife laws.

So after knives/rocks/gas/cars/rope/piano wire and every other potential weapon is outlawed and we live in nerf world, people will then start killing each other by stuffing all the happy fun balls down each other’s throats.

Why can’t someone with a microphone and a TV camera point out that simple truth?

Maybe he killed the younger children because in his twisted mind, he didn’t want them to go through whatever he went through. Maybe he shot the principal and the psychologist because he thought they were his enemies and potential enemies of the students.

He shot his mother in the face. Shooting her is bad enough, but obliterating her face? That sounds especially hostile.
