Active shooters in schools: The enemy is denial

Teaching the Teachers The challenge for law enforcement agencies and officers, then, is to overcome not only the attacks taking place in schools, but to first overcome the denial in the minds of mayors, city councils, school administrators, and parents. Grossman said that agencies and officers, although facing an uphill slog against the denial of the general public, must diligently work toward increasing understanding among the sheep that the wolves are coming for their children. Police officers must train and drill with teachers, not only so responding officers are intimately familiar with the facilities, but so that teachers know what they can do in the event of an attack.

This would be a good place for that picture of that M-16-toting Israeli schoolteacher.

Crucial that this be done. There must be armed protection at the schools and among some teachers who are willing to take on the duty.

Before members of Islamic jihad strike in worse fashion.

You cannot justify disarmament when we are at war against the axis of terrorism, and our borders - especially our southern border - are known to be pathways by which members of the enemy have infiltrated - liberals/progressives/well-paid alphabet TV talking heads would say, “illegally immigrated.”

If the perp at Newtown had been a member of the jihad, to the kids and families, it would have made no difference.

Yet among the political chattering class, there would be a different tune, thus showing the care-less-ness and thought-less-ness of their current demands.

This is the time to think about how much better, a defense can be raised for a school.

Because you are *NOT* going to disarm the jihadist, as Israel can tell you.

Put police officers in schools, because with just one officer assigned to a school, the probability of a mass murder in that school drops to almost zero

At every school find one worthless teacher and replace them with one armed security or police officer. Probability of mass murder at school is already almost zero, but if this cuts it by another factor of 100,000 or so then this would be well worth it and cost almost nothing, with the added benefit of there being one less worthless teacher at that school. And who knows, in a lot of cases the cop might be a better influence and role model for a lot of the students than the one worthless teacher that was displaced (I learned a lot of life lessons from the custodian at my grade school- he was a great guy and the kids loved him). This won't affect my family because all 4 of my grandchildren are homeschooled because my kids think the entire public school system is worthless, so I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard to find one worthless teacher at every school. If the public employees union is too powerful in your area and won't let you fire the worthless teacher, hire the cop anyway and raise taxes. Just a thought.

If the perp in Conn. had been a jihadi the story would not have gone beyond page ten of the local fish wrap.

These demagogues don’t give a crap about violence. They will be perfectly happy sending their goons to kill anyone who fails to comply. It may be violence on a scale never before seen but as long as they own DC they will be happy. Ecstatic, even.

A more likely scenario is that you will be taking a cop off of patrol duty and putting that cop in the school. Which given the amount of crime going on in schools may not be a bad idea

This guy’s solution is all about cops with guns. We need to teach teachers how to isolate and take down a shooter.

That would be great but unfortunately teachers are probably mostly anti-gun themselves, and scared to touch guns, and would strike and raise a ruckus to stop a policy like this from being implemented.
