Posted on 12/17/2012 4:12:20 PM PST by Olog-hai
The U.S. Congress must examine what can be done to respond to the Connecticut school shooting, including possibly new legislation, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Monday.
Reid told the Senate he agreed with President Barack Obama that no one law could erase evil, but added we need to accept the reality that we are not doing enough to protect our citizens. The remarks were significant coming from Reid, a Democrat from Nevada who during Obamas first term opposed reviving a ban on assault weapons.
In the coming days and weeks well engage in a meaningful conversation and thoughtful debate about how to change laws and culture that allow this violence to continue to grow, Reid said. He said every idea should be on the table as lawmakers discuss how to keep Americas children safe.

Boehner should just negotiate with Obama what gun control he wants. We shouldn’t have to bother going through the, you know, LEGISLATIVE PROCESS!!
Pure straight up tyranny!!!
I’m sure glad the NRA gave Dingy Harry a glowing endorsement. We’ll be able to count on his patriotic support of the 2A.
Does the NRA support Reid?
“we need to accept the reality that...”
This will not end well. They’re going to push this too far.
There is no law, no regulation, no rule even conceivable that could have prevented or stopped the tragedy. .....
Anything to draw attention away from the massive overspending, ongoing deficits, handouts to democrat cronies and the crushing national debt.
When will the NRA have something to say on this?
“Harry Reid: All Options on the Table on Gun Control”
Well, then all options are on the table to OPPOSE it, too.
>> “When will the NRA have something to say on this?” <<
Don’t forget, the NRA wrote the 1968 gun control act.
That mean old Constitution of ours must be fixed. After all, it’s for the children.
I agree and I support his implications that any teacher entrusted with the safety of someone else's children must be trained to use and carry at all times a concealed weapon. They also must be able to use the semi-automatic rifle kept in a combination locker that will be installed in every classroom.
They know that no gun control laws will get thru the Congress. Look for regulations and executive orders to get past that pesky problem.........
Require everyone to Concealed Carry so that any one of us can take out a crazed gunman.
There. That’s an option we should have on the table.
I don’t know about the NRA, but the Gun Owners of America have been vocal and out front. An attorney from Gun Owners of NH was on the local news tonight suggesting school administrators should be armed.
The first step in removing evil would be to remove the selfish criminal Harry Reid. Who is he to speak of evil when he also engages in it?
I’m thinking “Million (Armed) Man” march on DC...
>> “That mean old Constitution of ours must be fixed. After all, its for the children.” <<
You mean that “right to privacy” thingy that allows 1.5 million children to be murdered by their mother’s doctor every year?
Have all ‘Rats deliver their weapons to the Heritage Foundation for equitable, righteous (Social Justice) redistribution to preppers.
Sure there is. New rule to be a teacher: You must have served in the military or police to get a teaching certificate. You must be able to carry and use a firearm.
Schools must have multiple exits, but only one entrance, a hardened one, with two armed guards behind glass that control the doors like you would see when entering an American Embassy.
All who enter would have to pass through a metal detector beofore they are allowed inside. Easy as pie.

Google “Bonus Army”
Where in the article does Reid speak to the subject of gun control?
Keep your hands off my body! Don’t you understand individual liberty?
Hows about reopening the asylums and throwing the psychos butts so far back in there they will have to pump in sunshine!
You are wrong.
All? Every? This includes confiscation, straight from the WH channels’ mouths. (MSNBC, etc)
Hey Harry - Does “all options” include sending guns to Mexico as “Fast and Furious” as 0bama decrees?
Yes, the ‘liberty’ to murder one’s own unborn child is enshrined in the constitution...
That's what happened for my son anyway and it's a monumental thing (although he may not fully recognize it yet).
I think they may have supported Dingy over Sharron Angle. Pit. E. Ful.
Yes, because the Supreme Court said so. It’s in the penumbras and stuff.
Yes they did. The NRA is worse than useless. They are complicit.
Nope. They need to carry a select-fire rifle slung over their shoulder like even the schoolkids do in Israel.
There are no more Public School massacres if there are no more Public Schools.
Bonus Army was about money.
This is about slavery...ours.
The Politicians and the Bureaucrats with their hangers-on in the Media and far left are just going to keep ramping up the pressure until someone else breaks.
THEN they will have all the “reasons” to do what they’ve been wanting to do for decades. Disarm us all and turn us into serfs and targets.
As a Public School inmate, I did frequently think about the analogue of school as jail (and I liked to go get some learnin’ most days).
“Barry should think about that. “
Barry’s gang has got that figured out. They can accomplish what they want without a real fight. Slow, steady, toe in the water, chipping away at what built this country. They know that if anyone is going to shove first, it’ll be us. They don’t need to. They just need to offer the easy, lazy way out.
Chesty Puller had the best line about being surrounded like this.
As President Obama said last night, no one law can erase evil. No policy can prevent a determined madman from committing a senseless act of violence, but we need to accept the reality that we are not doing enough to protect our citizens. In the coming days and weeks, we will engage in a meaningful conversation and thoughtful debate about how to change laws and culture that allow violence to grow. We have no greater responsibility than keeping our most vulnerable and most precious resourceour childrensafe. And every idea should be on the table as we discuss how best to do just that.As to those ideas, Newsmax points out people such as Mark Warner.
I think most of us realize that there are ways to get to rational gun control. There are ways to grapple with the obvious challenges of mental illness.Newsmax also mentions WV Democrat Joe Manchin, whom CNN calls a conserative Democrat(!), in the context of involving the NRA in a discussion on the Newtown massacre issue.
Who would have ever thought, in America, or anywhere in the world, that children would be slaughtered? You know, thatits changed me. And I mean a total change. Its time to move beyond rhetoric. We need to sit down and have a common sense discussion and move in a reasonable way. I've been a longtime supporter of Second Amendment rights. I believe every American has Second Amendment rights. The ability to hunt is part of our culture. I have an NRA rating of an A, but enough is enough.Sounds to me like he means enough of wearing the mask . . .
And the NRA endorsed this scumbag for reelection.....that is when I cancelled my membership to the NRA!
He did say “every idea should be on the table”, so that one needs to be shouted back up.
Used to be only wizards and witch doctors spoke of stuff like “penumbras”. The just judges have been taken from us all right, just as Isaiah 3:2 said.
nice move d***head. you and the KAPO feinswine. colorado background checks on saturday were >4000 and the system, which usually takes minutes, took up to 18 hours. and i think most of that was long guns. people are preparing.
Reid’s proposal is a non-starter.
States need to name all federal bureaucrats in their states persona non grata and start a campaign to ostracize them. No food, no water, no clothing, no energy and no shelter. Let these 400-pound fascist criminals hire 30 IQ SEIU slobs to carve out forts in the national forests and monuments.
