I’m sorry to see that. The History Channel had an excellent and very accurate History of Guns show on about 15 years ago.

The show grew old very quickly. Even among my crowd of serious gun enthusiasts their viewership had grown close to zero.

I think I still have it on satellite, but I never watch it either, it’s trash.

Most of the time I watch the Investigation Channel, otherwise AMC, sci fi, tru tv for laughs sometimes, and that’s about it.

Cable tv really, really stinks.

But the ratings subsequently dropped off and, in the end, Season 2 finished down double-digits from Season 1. I hear Discovery brass also felt there was no story left to tell, contributing to the cancellation decision.

It was cancelled due to low ratings. If Paige and her Mom hadn’t been so HOT (in a plastic surgery kind of way) it probably would not have lasted the first season.

I wonder if Dad and junior will still be flying around Colorado in a chopper to make gun deals?

The whole show was dumb. I won’t miss it.

You want to see some good gun shows watch Monday Lock’n’Load on Sportsman Channel and Wednesday Night at the Range on Outdoors Channel. They have some GREAT gun shows without all the drama. But no hot babes dangit!

The thing about “American Guns” was the kinds of stuff they did on the show. How many rich dudes are there in Colorado that can afford their custom, one of a kind wares? I liked Kurt Wyatt, the kid who did the engraving. The dad, Rich Wyatt, came across as overbearing and boorish. Paige Wyatt was an immature twit. Mom Renee Wyatt was hot, but didn't have much of a role — though she could shoot well. I always thought the show was rather lame.

“Sons of Guns” is far more diversified in their projects and have some characters you can like. They have taken on some very exotic restorations: the restored WW2 flamethrower; the USS KIDD WW2 reenactment; German 37mm, US 37mm, and US 57mm anti-tank guns; WW1 Maxim and propeller synchronizer; and M18A1 57mm recoilless rifle. I absolutely hated the episode where Jesse James had Red Jacket “bling” his Model D Browning Automatic Rifle.

That SoG has survived for 48 episodes, indicates it has some audience that AG never quite captured. The TV coverage certainly didn't hurt Red Jacket's or Gunsmoke’s businesses.
