~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico
Holloman Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located six miles southwest of the central business district of Alamogordo, a city in Otero County, New Mexico, United States. The base was named in honor of Col. George V. Holloman, a pioneer in guided missile research. It is the home of the 49th Wing (49 WG) of the Air Combat Command (ACC).
Holloman is located in New Mexico's Tularosa Basin between the Sacramento and San Andres mountain ranges. The base is about 10 miles west of Alamogordo, New Mexico, on U.S. Route 70/82; 90 miles north of El Paso, Texas; and 70 miles east of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The base covers 59,639 acres and is located at an altitude of 4,093 feet. Holloman is home to the world's longest, at 50,188 feet (almost 10 miles), and fastest, approaching 10,000 feet per second, test track.
The 49th Wing host wing at Holloman Air Force Base supports national security objectives by deploying worldwide to support peacetime and wartime contingencies. The wing provides combat-ready Airmen, F-22 Raptors, and trains MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper pilots and sensor operators.

Additionally, the wing delivers Air Transportable Clinics and Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources while providing support to more than 17,000 military and civilian personnel to include German Air Force Flying Training center operations. The wing has a proud history of service in World War II, Korea, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia and NATO-led Operation Allied Force.
Along with the 49th FW, the 46th Test Group , part of the 46th Test Wing from Eglin Air Force Base, Florida is based at Holloman. The 46th TG is an Air Force Materiel Command unit responsible for operational testing and evaluation of new equipment and systems proposed for use by these forces.
Current initiatives include advanced self-protection systems for combat aircraft, aircrew life support systems, aerial reconnaissance improvements, new armament and weapons delivery systems, and improved maintenance equipment and logistics support. Learn More About Holloman Air Force Base HERE!!
The New Mexico Museum of Space History is a museum and planetarium complex in Alamogordo, New Mexico, dedicated to artifacts and displays related to space flight and the space age. It includes the International Space Hall of Fame. The Museum of Space History highlights the role that New Mexico has had in the U. S. space program, and is one of eight museums administered by the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.
The museum includes exhibits about the planets of the Solar System, space flight and the primates that were used in early space flight experiments conducted by the United States. The museum holds mock-ups and training units of many important space artifacts such as satellites, the Space Shuttle, and the lunar lander (the originals are still in space or on the moon). Visit the New Mexico Museum of Space History HERE!!

Opened Ears
December 18, 2012
Recently I was having trouble with my ears and decided to try a somewhat controversial treatment. It was supposed to melt the wax in my ears and clear out any impediments that might get in the way of the ability to hear. I have to admit that it sounded like a strange experience. But I was desperate to be able to hear clearly, so I was willing to give it a try.
As important as good hearing is in life, it is even more important in our walk with God. In Psalm 40:6, David declared, Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; my ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. The word opened in this verse can be translated cleared out, and it speaks of what God desires for us. He wants our ears to be open and ready to hear Him as He speaks to us through His Word. Sometimes, however, our spiritual ears may be blocked by the background noise of the surrounding culture or the siren songs of temptation and sin.
May we instead turn our hearts to the Lord in full devotion, keeping our ears open to Him so that we will be sensitive to His voice. As He speaks, He will put His Word in our hearts, and we will learn from Him to delight in His will (v.8).
Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear. Scott
God speaks through His Word
to those who listen with their heart.
Read: Psalm 40:1-10

Finally some sun this afternoon but that's not before I'd come down with a rather bothersome cold. Off to the drugstore in the morning come rain or shine.
Hope you get your 20 degree warming but truthfully 20 doesn't really compute with warm.

Hope your Monday went well, and your commute too! *HUGS*
It’s -11 right now, and I had to get gas on the way home. With the weather so cold, and knowing that I need to run my car every few hours, I never let my tank get much below half. But, my feet and hands are still cold. BRRR!
