Life-giving substances shouldnt be treated as pollutants
The environmentalist movement has gone off the deep end. Its bad enough that the courts have allowed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to declare carbon dioxide, one of the essential components of life on this planet, to be a pollutant. Now the same bureaucratic zealots are going after water itself.
On Friday, Virginia Attorney General Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II appeared in federal district court in Alexandria to contest the EPAs use of the Clean Water Act to punish Virginia and Fairfax County for sending too much water into a watershed. These regulations are expensive, cumbersome and incredibly difficult to implement, Mr. Cuccinelli said. And if we cant stop this from happening in Fairfax County, its bound to happen across the state over and over again and at a huge price tag to the taxpayers of the commonwealth.
The EPAs latest action is a classic example of how Washington agencies constantly expand their purpose. Congress first adopts legislation bearing a title nobody could reasonably oppose whos against clean water? Over time, the courts and bureaucrats systematically extend the meaning of formerly innocuous definitions. Now instead of keeping lead out of drinking water, the agency is keeping water out of creeks.

Ideally the departments, and their supporting bureaucracies NOT designated by the founders in the constitution, and of little use other than to support the power of political parties should be eliminated at great cost savings to taxpayers, as well the reduction of onerous regulation, and grief.
Still waiting on Upjohn to repeal the incandescent light bulb ban. Dind’t he say he’d do it in return for the Chairmanship?
Eliminate the EPA. It was a bad idea to begin with.
Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) is a colorless and odorless chemical compound, also referred to by some as Dihydrogen Oxide, Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid. Its basis is the highly reactive hydroxyl radical, a species shown to mutate DNA, denature proteins, disrupt cell membranes, and chemically alter critical neurotransmitters. The atomic components of DHMO are found in a number of caustic, explosive and poisonous compounds such as Sulfuric Acid, Nitroglycerine and Ethyl Alcohol.
And it quite refreshing to drink with frozen Dihydrogen Monoxide on a hot summer day.
Yes, if I recall correctly a group on a college campus had petitions for people to sign in order to outlaw it and got many signatures:)
Gotta go states rights on this one, the national government should not be concerned with water.
Thank you, AG Cuccinelli, for taking a stand against this EPA madness!!
Gotta blame GOD for sending too MUCH rain!
Apparently, the EPA thinks it is GOD.
I've little doubt you're correct, at least many career EPA and most all political appointees consider themselves to be.
