Can the Republican Party Remain Relevant?
American Thinker ^ | December 17, 2012 | Steve McCann

Does the Republican Party want to remain relevant? Or are they willing to be cast, by the not so subtle scorched earth tactics of Barack Obama, the Democrats and the mainstream media, into permanent second class status, and eventual oblivion?

The only political weapon, but a potentially powerful one, the Republicans have is control of the House of Representatives. The Speaker of the House thus becomes, by default, the national spokesman and face of the Party. This person is the one sitting alone across the table from the twin juggernaut of Barack Obama and his celebrity persona and the sycophantic mainstream media, with their predisposition against all things conservative.

It is extraordinarily difficult to hold one's own against this two-headed dragon. However, if the United States is to regain its once lofty economic and societal stature, there is no choice as there must be a guerilla action over the next four years to delay and stop Obama's plans to transform America. This requires a Speaker of the House with a persona that is not overshadowed by the President, who is unafraid to take on the media and is able to coordinate messaging with not only Republican House members but other conservative voices. But above all, a Speaker willing to confront Barack Obama directly and forcefully.

The current Speaker, John Boehner, while a decent man and a hard working representative for his district in Ohio, is not the right person for the job at this critical juncture in American history. In a cogent and insightful analysis of Mr. Boehner, Peter Ferrara writes:

Boehner is no match for Obama on the national stage. He cannot press the economic arguments articulately. He does not have a compelling personality. Obama is running circles around Boehner with outrageous falsehoods, and Boehner cannot raise a...

Good line. Good rant. Thanks for the post -- but I think you're a bit premature with the eulogy, the elegy, and the embalming job. The American People ain't dead yet.

So just how do you propose to change this around? Crickets chirping. No, we can't go back to Kansas. The American experiment has passed.

That was a terrific essay...

Until he suggested we support Newt Gingrich for Speaker.

Anyone here remember what Bill Clinton and the MSM did to Gingrich?

That was the beginning of the end for Conservatives.

We have had no national leadership since Newt fell apart under pressure in 1996.

The American People ain't dead yet.

Maybe they are dead and just don't know it. Or maybe it's like the government employee said in 1896 that we should close the patent office because everything that can be invented already had been. I like Rush Limbaugh's new line about the American people. He calls them "low-information voters."

Yes. The posters who blame Romney, Bonier the Gope ....voter fraud have it wrong. When white single woman are willing to sacrifice economic freedom for free condoms. Its done. Finito. The people are higher then a kite on “tolerance” gay marriage, free condoms and hopium for all.

GDP..unemployment rates...deficits...who cares?
That is until the one group that won’t be argued with and can’t be negotiated with decides enough is enough. Bond and equities traders.

Boehner may well be the stalking horse for Jebbie in 2016! Boehner is saying everything Jebbie will say again in 2016.

Boehner faithfully represents the real GOP, which has become a liberal party.

Agreed. I'm leaving the party. I shoulda done it when they nominated McLAME. The only good thing to come out of that was Sarah on the national stage. Mitt was the confirmation I needed.

What you all don’t understand is that the game is over. The moochers, looters and inner city tribal parasites outnumber the producers. You cannot beat Santa Claus. You are under the delusion that if we just had an articulate, dynamic conservative that could sway the sheeple with logic, reason and facts, we could start winning elections again. It’s too late. “

Sad but true.

Too many people are saying “Boehner is awful, we need someone better”

NOBODY has explained: HOW ANYONE WOULD ACTUALLY SUCCESSFULLY BEAT OBAMA AND REID AND CHANGE POLICY DIRECTION IN DC.

Nobody. I’ve heard ‘let it burn’ and other BS, but not a single good idea from anyone, pundit, etc. that explains how we could actually GET A REAL DEAL OUT OF OBAMA TO CUT TAXES AND SPENDING.

I’m all ears.

If Jebbie gets the GOP nomination, I will either vote for Obama, who will most assuredly be running for a third term after being given the green light by the Roberts Court, or for a third party candidate.

"Can the Republican Party Remain Relevant?"

..... Honestly people ..... How can it?

Over the past decade the pathetic GOP has, and probably will continually fall for every conceivable trap, no matter how lame, that is set for them. In fact the Grand Old Party has now become nothing more than sadistic entertainment for the Democrat Party and the MSM that, as of Nov. 6th 2012 .... are enjoying their new found mandate to convert America into the Socialist utopia of their dreams.

Apparently on the last federal election .... too many people forgot the old idiom ..... all it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to stand by and do nothing. ..... And so they did!! They scream like mighty warriors when they come for their guns ...... but when they came to take away their country and their freedom ......... they turned their backs on her when she needed them most.

And so .... On Nov 6th, 2012 ..... the march to socialism was given a new life while our freedom horribly withered.

As long as Democrats educate the masses, entertain them, and deliver the news, its going to be an uphill battle.

Turn this around or the war of attrition attrits us.

POINTS TO PONDER

Latino groups are throwing their weight around---saying they launched massive voter drives and threatening US lawmakers with retaliation if they dont get immigration laws passed. Now threats probably cause corrupt federales to cower in fear----but in America"

IT IS AGAINST THE LAW to threaten a US lawmaker----

it is illegal to use threats to get legislation----and,

it is illegal to use tax-free n/p status as a voting club.

=================================================

This is more stupidity from the Third World infecting our culture. Stupids do not know how to navigate democracy and are undermining it.

N/P latino groups should be rigorously investigated to determine (1) the source of funding,(2) whether foreign govts subsidizee their activities, (3) penalties for using tax-free n/p status as a voting club, and, (3) the scope and dimension of lawreaking WRT latino vote drives.

=========================================================

THIS KIND OF THINKING IS REMINSCENT OF POST-CIVIL WAR Carpetbaggers---Northern invaders to the South ----were prominent in politics until 1875, but nearly all left under pressure from the Red Shirts and White Liners -----white paramilitary organizations, then-described as "the military arm of the Democratic Party", working openly to violently overthrow Republican rule, using intimidation and assassination to turn Republicans out of office and suppress freedmen's (former slaves) voting.

The Republican sheriff of Yazoo, Mississippi, received a brief flurry of national attention when insurgent white Democrats took over the county government and forced him to flee.

In 1875, Hiram Revels, a Mississippi Republican--and the first African-American US Senator--wrote to Pres Ulysses S. Grant denouncing Northerners for manipulating the Black vote for personal benefit, and for keeping alive wartime hatreds. (WIKI)

===========================================

WHAT'S THIS? Moochelle Ohaha recently stated that the minority vote was "supressed". So I guess latinos lied--- they did not reelect Ohaha after all.

ROTFL.

Moochelle is reliving the post-Civil War period----it’s not uncommon for some in the minority community to believe that the white establishment (Republicans) uses its power to slander and destroy minority politicians who threaten the status quo......

Snide remarks about the “invisible and permanent powers-that-be” (Republicans) trying to take down minorities...... is a sentiment some minorities bandy about when they try to justify (what they deem) is their lowly status.

==================================================

Voter fraud is the Chi/mobs' specialty---Ohoho, Mrs HoHo, Mayor Rahm, Axelrod, Valerie whatsherface---these are the kingpins of corrupt Chicago politics. The Ohahas/Chi-mob werre unleashed on the 2012 election----and they delivered..

At one time, conscientious FEC investigators verified money was coming from legal citizens....but the Ohohos will NEVER allow investigatioLet us not forget----the minute they hit the WH, the Chi/mob went into action: the mob took over the census---they have all the CV they need to file phony FEC reports.

People donated to Ohoho who had no idea they were financing his reelection.

Were stolen federal dollars falsified as campaign contributions? There are billions unaccounted for in Obama's "stimulus" packages.....$18 billion disappeared just in NJ. The Ohaha criminal kingpins had tons of money stashed away for 2012.

We need to get someone with integrity----like Cong Allen West (not reelected)----- to write letters to his colleagues, and to the media.

Cong West needs to do the following:

(1) to decry the agitation and intimidation tactics being used by latino groups,

(2) to expose latinos using hatemongering for personal gain,

(3) to emphasize the illegalities WRT threateing the US Congress, and,

(4) to precpitate investigations into fraud and intimidation upon our electoral/legislative system by these hatemongering groups.

Boehner would fight if the average Joe Blow Congressman wanted him to.

Joe Blow Congressmen see little upside in a fight for principles that would bring a deluge of critical media scrutiny on their heads.

Joe Blow Congressman will not fight for conservative principles until he gages more upside to fighting than downside to shutting up and going along.

Joe Blow Congressmen will not fight until we force them to.

Nothing can possibly change for the better until We The People put max heat on the GOP. Copy rants at FR and send to our Congressmen. They will respond if enough of us let them know their jobs are at stake. There is no reason in the internet age to not be a virtual penpal with those who can do so much to destroy our society and freedoms.

RE :”Nothing can possibly change for the better until We The People put max heat on the GOP. Copy rants at FR and send to our Congressmen. They will respond if enough of us let them know their jobs are at stake”

Seems like O, Pelosi and Reid did a great job teaching them that lesson this past election, Dems picked up seats in both Houses when just a year ago there was talk of the GOP taking control of the Senate.

RE :”Joe Blow Congressman will not fight for conservative principles until he gages more upside to fighting than downside to shutting up and going along.
Joe Blow Congressmen will not fight until we force them to”

This congress was great at taking ill thought out stands and fights, trapping themselves and then getting crushed by popular opinion (including their own district voters) and then making a humiliating surrender. A perfect example was the FICA fight exactly a year ago. House Republicans backed themselves into a corner on that one and were forced to crawl to O.

No, Republicans do not need more self imposed humiliation. Instead they need to learn how to beat Dems. And that does not come by getting (taking) the blame for shutting down the government, defaulting on debt, raising taxes on middle class. Victory comes from getting voters to blame O for those things. You get O on the run and even the RINOs will follow.

Bohner is not a fighter, he is crier. Now Pelosi is a real fighter. She is twice the man Bohner is.

just wait till they take up ‘immigration reform’ next year to create even more Dem voters. Obama will be king after that fight.

McCain and GWB never did explain how they would get those dreamers to vote R.
