With one shot, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy took down a gunman who attempted to opened fire at a crowded movie theater lobby during a late night showing of “The Hobbit” in San Antonio, WOAI reports.

Bexar County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Castellano, who was working off-duty as a security guard at the Mayan Palace, chased the gunman toward the back of the theater. The 13-year department veteran cornered him after he ran into a men's restroom, shooting him several times and taking his gun, Pollard said.

It was a gal that stopped that church shooting in Colorado Springs several years ago. She was a former cop, and a member of the church and volunteered as security. IIRC she ran past a uniformed rent-a-cop as she headed towards the sound of gunfire. She severely wounded the shooter, who then committed suicide.

Bottom line is killers are cowards..the second they see someone else armed they either run like sissies or kill themselves. The reason why the shooter in Oregon killed himself is because he freaked out when he saw someone armed. That is why these “gun free zones” are absolute JOKES..they dont deter crime, in fact, it makes nut cases swarm to them because they know that no one there will be armed to stop them

The gunman was shot by a church female security officer and was found dead when police arrived at the scene, said Colorado Springs Police Chief Richard Myers.

Police did not release the name of the security guard but said she "probably saved many lives today."

"It's a tragedy that could have been much worse than it was," the police chief admitted.

The gunman was described as a white man in his late teens to early 20s. His name has not been released. However, Arvada police said late Sunday that this shooting may be linked to a shooting at a missionary center in Arvada. The gunman in that shooting was described as a white man in his 20s. All true, but I have also read that these incidents usually end in suicide because the gunman wants to retain control and taking his own life achieves that objective.
