States Give ObamaCare A Massive Vote Of No Confidence
Investor's Business Daily | 12/17/2012 | IBD Staff

Health Reform: If ObamaCare is such a great idea, why are so many governors — including several Democrats — refusing to play along? What do they know that the administration isn't telling the rest of us?

So far, not one part of ObamaCare has worked as planned. Almost immediately, the administration had to distribute huge numbers of waivers to companies because its initial rules would have forced them to drop their low-cost plans.

ObamaCare's high-risk pools promised to cover hundreds of thousands, but ended up attracting almost no one. The small-business tax break has been a complete bust. Insurance premiums are already spiking.

And now states are in open revolt against two key elements of the law.

Not to mention that a lot of small businesses have dumped their employee insurance coverage because they simply cannot afford it, thanks to 0bamacare.

If ObamaCare is such a great idea

why did those who forced it on us exempt themselves, their families, their staff and their staff's families? CLUE!!! It's all about control.

The “pre-existing conditions” insurance that Obama touted was, as is much of his “stuff”, aimed at the ignorant voter. He acted like no one at that time could get that kind of insurance. They could; but it cost them. Obamacare is going to cost them, too; and likely isn’t worth having.

I am a CFP specializing in Health Care Financial Planning.

I would like your entire article, I do not see a link.

I must give a presentation to a local business group on these subjects, next month.

Thanks

"So far, not one part of ObamaCare has worked as planned."

That's the money shot. If they are going to pass ANY new laws how about a"government accountability act" law for auditting every single department from the top down

See if it has achieved its stated goals, if not- then ELIMINATE IT

"It's all about control."

Bingo! All part of the plan for eventual total control under a single payor nationalized health system. Chaos and crisis gives rise to being able to accomplish things you would not otherwise be able to do.

I'd be interested to know what the chatter is among your peers about Obamacare.

This really burns me up. “Do as I say, not as I do”.

Ran into my ex dem congresscritter and asked if his family had
the Rolls Royce coverage politicians get, exempt from the Obamacare single payer collective. “Of course” he said, he was a member of the Federal employees union. Started to turn
it into a matter of deservedness. I said I don’t begrudge you
your Pelosicare, but why do I have to join a government collective? Why can’t I be exempt like pols, unions, certain religious groups, etc? Further, if only proletariats like me
have to endure government collectives and a certain class does’nt, then isn’t that like Soviet Communism with a gifted
“Intelligentsia”? Never got a good answer.

Obamacare is about health care?

I haven’t seen one story anywhere about anyone being helped or healed.

John Roberts said it was simply a massive tax increase.

Those of us working in the insurance and financial planning trenches are well aware of the problems with CURRENT government programs, so we pretty much expect the same or similar problems with Obamacare.

For instance, Every State had either “High Risk Pools” or some form of “Guaranteed Issue” plan before Obamacare. Yes, they were expensive, but that is partially by design. More than a few people wait until they are sick, before they even think about buying health insurance. This is called “Moral Hazard” or “Adverse Selection” depending on the circumstances. It would have been smarter to simply grant tax credits for these high risk plans, or subsidize them more, rather than turn the whole system upside-down.

Also, we all see stupid issues such as COBRA law. COBRA, under Medicare rules, does NOT qualify as “Creditable Coverage” for avoiding the Part B penalty. However, COBRA does qualify as “Creditable Coverage” for Part D of Medicare.

This creates great confusion. “Healthy people care about premiums, sick people care about CLAIMS” -—

Often, if covered by individual or spousal COBRA, and you have cancer or some other expensive disease, and you hit age 65, you might well decide to STAY on COBRA, as you are most worried about your health and your claims. If such a person declines Part B when first offered, that person WILL have a Part B Penalty of 10% per year without Part B, and that person might well be required to wait until the “General Enrollment Period” which might delay “Part B” more than a year. General Enrollment period is from 1 January to 31 March for an effective date of 1 July.

My point is?

We had REAL problems prior to Obamacare, and Obamacare did not even address those problems.

Obamacare is not really about solving any existing problems.
