Boehner’s House Has Increased Debt $18,944 Per Household

Under the leadership of House Speaker John Boehner (R.-Ohio), the 112th House of Representatives has thus far approved legislation that has increased the debt of the federal government by $2,176,949,774,695.46—or approximately $18,944 for per American household.

The 112th House of Representatives has achieved this in a little more than 20 months time—and it may not be done yet enacting laws to approve new federal borrowing and spending.

The 112th House came into power on Jan. 5, 2011, electing Rep. John Boehner as its speaker on that day.

The Boehner-led House did not have a direct impact on the fiscal policy of the federal government until March 4, 2011, when a continuing resolution enacted on Dec. 21, 2010 in the lame-duck session of the previous Congress expired.

On March 1, 2011, Boehner and President Barack Obama cut their first short-term federal spending deal. That deal took effect on March 4, 2011. Since then all new borrowing and spending by the federal government has been approved in laws enacted by Boehner’s House consistent with its constitutional power to control the borrowing and spending by the federal government.

At the close of business on March 4, 2011, when the first Boehner-Obama deal took effect, the federal government’s debt was $14,182,627,184,881.03, according to the U.S. Treasury. As of the close of business on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, the federal government's debt was $16,359,576,959,576.49.

That is an increase of $2,176,949,774,695.46.

The latest Census Bureau estimate is that as of September there were about 114,916,000 households in the United States. That means the Republican-majority House of Representatives, elected in November 2010 and led by Speaker John Boehner, has increased the federal government’s debt by approximately $18,944 per household.

“approved in laws enacted by Boehner’s House consistent with its constitutional power to control the borrowing and spending by the federal government.”

This line was thrown in to absolve the Senate i.e. the democrats of all responsibility.

The continuing resolutions were the result of the Senate not passing a budget since 2009, thus allowing spending to continue at exorbitant levels instead of being cut or at least examined in subsequent budgets.

You can bet your ass that the rats will use this in the next midterms. Kinda like what they did in 2006.

???

Based on the record of the GOP congress with a Republican POTUS 2005 to 2006 is there any reason to be surprised?

Dont worry, Bohner and R the house are working hard to repeal the automatic delayed budget cuts that they took credit for deficit reduction with in Sept 2011.

GOP House formula:
Pass delayed budget cuts, declare historical bi-partision deficit reduction achieved, spend the next year crying how bad those cuts will be, repeal them, start over.

So, if I have this correct, folks are blaming the House for passing several CRs which fund the government at 10% less than the previously passed budget (at least in my agency) because the Senate hasn’t passed a budget in 3yrs (the House did by the way) and the President’s own budget was voted down in the Senate 2x by something like 97-0. Interesting take on the situation, to say the least.

Absolutely. "It's ALL the Republicans fault."

The tax and spend democrats had nothing to do with all the taxing and spending.

Boehner’s House controls appropriations and tax legislation. The House can pass a balanced budget today with the corresponding tax revenue. The Senate can either pass the House plan or not. If the Senate passes the bill the president can sign or not.

The Dems today are playing hardball by not passing a budget and the Republicans are a acquiescing by agreeing to continuing resolutions. Their other option is to do the responsible thing and pass a balanced budget. If the Senate refuses to pass it, the government is not funded and shuts down.

Unfortunately our Republican House doesn’t have the guts for a budget showdown in which they hold the cards.

How does that compare with the previous Congresses that were completely controlled by ‘Rats?

Also, the federal government, thanks to the Moron ‘Rats Harry Reid and BO, has been operating WITHOUT PASSING A BUDGET.

I won’t be so tough on Boehner until he has a reasonable “other side” to work with....

Washington needs to be a total clean out. America is finished and there is no redemption in site. Sorry, but reality has to set in.

PLEASE! Are you this easily lead? The House passed bill after bill that was tabled by Reid's Senate which has not passed a budget in three years.

They drove the debt limit debate to the very edge last year and ended up with the fiscal cliff all in an effort to cut spending and eventually balance the budget.

Reid's majority didn't waver, Obama's been reelected. The GOP House lost some ground. Much of this lays at the feet of those who are not satisfied with the GOP's progress and rather than fight to make it easier on them allow it to get harder, or as we sit now and til 2017... impossible.

The House should have taken a principled stand and shut the MFer down if necessary. If the voters didn't like that they could elect 100% democrats to both houses of Congress and the result would have been the same as today. So nothing was gained by not sticking to principle, except for some congress members still receiving a paycheck from China and claiming to be republicans.

So yes, this is at the feet of House Republicans who have been enablers for the commie left.

Your either flat out lying or being purpusefully misleading. The “Boehner House” has sent several budgets to the “Reid Senate.” Only to be stuck in committees by Reid!

I don’t like Boehner, but your premise is false.

No more GOP votes from this guy. I switched my party registration to Ind in 2007 after a 45 year GOP member. INHO GWB ruined the GOP and there doesn't seem to be any leadership that will bring it back.

IF MICHELE BACKMANN MAKES A RUN FOR SPEAKER AND CAN WIN, then I will reconsider. I have a lot of respect for the woman with gonads - I believe she is the equivalent of Piglosi.

Bachmann Will Challenge Boehner For GOP Leadership
