Leftie Liz on Obama’s Path to Prez?
Boston Herald ^ | December 18, 2012 | Michael Graham

You know the story: A relatively unknown politician from the far Left of the Democratic Party gives an attention-getting speech at the Democratic National Convention. Soon after, that speaker is a U.S. senator and — before even finishing one term — is the party’s nominee for president.

Barack Obama? No, I’m talking about Liz Warren.

She hasn’t even taken the oath of office yet, and already speculation has begun that Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren could be the Democrats’ pick for POTUS in 2016.

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is already a liberal heartthrob,” political columnist Doyle McManus wrote in the Los Angeles Times. “Progressives loved her fiery speech at the Democratic National Convention, and she knows how to raise money after collecting a remarkable $42 million in her race against Sen. Scott Brown.”

The downside? “She’ll be 67 in 2016,” McManus rudely notes.

Then there’s the “Hillary” problem: A recent Washington Post/ABC poll showed 66 percent of Americans have a favorable view of Secretary of State Clinton, and another poll found 61 percent of Democrats want her to run.

Beating Hillary Clinton in a primary in 2016 would be tough — almost as tough as beating her in 2008 (Her Gallup poll approval rating in 2007 was a healthy 58 percent) First-term Sen. Barack Obama did it then. Could our own Elizabeth Warren do it now?

Anything’s possible said Michael Barone, longtime editor of the Almanac of American Politics.

“Look at her fellow professor Woodrow Wilson,” Barone said. Elected to public office the first time as New Jersey governor in 1910, Wilson was elected president in 1912.

“The same with Tom Dewey — governor of New York in 1942, Republican nominee in 1944. It can happen,” Barone said. “But I wouldn’t...

Massachusetts does not embody the rest of America.

She would really be a pioneer...the Democrats have never nominated a Native American for President. (The Republicans, on the other hand, nominated a Native American for Vice President, and he actually won election.)

Warren v. Christie - we’ll end up with our first American Indian president. At least she meets the “native born” requirement.

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is already a liberal heartthrob”

That's not a heart throb, that's the onset of angina...

True, but it now embodies 50.8% of America, which is all you need.

If the Roberts Court gives Obama a green light to run for a third term, I doubt if he’ll have serious opposition.

If anything can be sure to finish off whatever is called “America” in 2016 its Warren. The Republicans are in the process of Collapse thanks to crybaby Boehner and if some RINO like Christie or Jeb Bush runs its a sure lose bet. 2016 is going to horrible enough without Shrill Harpy Hillary and the Fake Inidan on TV giving speeches every 5 minutes. UGHHH!

She's in a position to become a fringe candidate in the primaries, but it's hard to see her actually winning.

Obama was an unknown quantity in 2008. He could be all things to all of his voters.

Warren has a record of missteps and silly things she said. It will come back to haunt her in a presidential race.

There was a time when I would have agreed with you, but not now. With the American voter being so uninformed and actually stupid anything is possible now. Add to that the fact that the more lefty a democrat, the better his/her chance of being their nominee.

The fact she carries a “D” after her name gives her an immediate 6% point advantage.. probably 8% by 2016. This country’s so morally bankrupt the dems could nominate Barney Frank and he’d be an even bet to be elected.
