The Republicans need to go onto as many as the cable news networks, Sunday talks shows, nightly news programs, etc., and saturate the airwaves with the following message: “We made proposal “A” to Obama and he rejected it.” “We made proposal “B” to Obama, and he rejected it.” We made proposal “C”, etc. etc. “It’s clear that it is Barack Obama who has no intention of finding a solution to this problem, and WANTS the country to go over the Fiscal Cliff.” They need to get this message out to as many Americans as they can, as often as they can.

Boehner & the Republicans should come back with a specific Department to cut - like Education. There is no doubt that it has been an abject failure to improve anything, anywhere in the country. Stand up & say, “We will accept higher taxes only when there are dramatic & specific cuts in spending - starting HERE!”

Reid will table the bill if he does not like it, thus the Senate is not exposed.

A bunch of those " isn’t all about the free stuff" still blame the Repubs/Bush for the economy, thus anything Boehner does will not change squat. Its high time for the regular Joe and others to start feeling the effects of the perpetual Statist (Democrat and Republican) regimes. The road needs to end and the can stopped. Everyone, not just the millionaires need to start paying for the crap they continue to vote for.

Boehner could give obama EVERYTHING he wanted, no strings attached, and obama would reject it. Why? Because obama WANTS TO GO OVER THE CLIFF. He knows Pravda USA would still blame the GOP for it.

It looks to me like it is time for the House GOP to stop negotiating against itself.

IMHO, the GOP could win this PR battle if it:

(1) Passed a bill that reduces our fiscal deficit by:

(a) Taxing “carried-interest” gains of hedge-funders at ordinary income rates.
(b) Making interest over $50,000 on tax-exempt bonds taxable at ordinary income rates.
(c) Capping total itemized deductions from personal taxable income at, say, $50,000.
(d) Putting a “too-big-to-fail” tax on the dozen or so banks and investment banks that are STILL too big.
(e) Treating “state tax credits” for producing movies as current period taxable income.
(f) Radically reducing tax subsidies to all entertainment businesses.
(g) Placing a hiring freeze on the Federal Government — which includes all its sub-units except Defense.
(h) Treating inheritances as ordinary taxable income to the heirs.
(i) Permitting gifts to charities to be deductible for tax purposes ONLY if contributed as cash. Non-cash gifts like “art”, junk autos, and valuable “personal papers” would be non-tax-deductible, regardless of their so-called “appraised” values.
(h) ETC.

(2) Sent that bill to the Senate.

(3) Sent every Representative home until the Senate passes the same bill — or passes a modified bill with differences to be be worked out in a conference, i.e.: the “normal way”.

IMHO, the “Chicago Way” — where the House of Representatives is left to beg for a serious response from Harry Reed and the White House — is a fool’s game.

IMHO, it’s time to stop playing that game.

Give it up Boehner!! Stand UP like A MAN. If the few remaining REAL Conservative House Members don’t vote to take the gavel out of Boehner’s weaping hands then the GOP is dead to me.

I’ve already budgeted the 800 or so a month I will lose by going over the cliff. I guarentee you it will happen. Obama WANTS it to happen. He will not agree to anything except something that damages America more than the cliff.

The greatest mistake was to enter into negotiations with Obama....should have just passed the Ryan plan again in the House and send it over to the Senate.

If the Senate fails to act, the Democrats are to blame. If the Senate approves Plan B and the President vetoeso it, the President sends the economy over the fiscal cliff.

Altered for the Pravda Press media treatment:

If the Senate fails to act, the Republicans are to blame. If the Senate approves Plan B and the President vetoes it, the President sends the economy over the fiscal cliff and the Republicans are to blame.

It does not matter what Boner proposes, it will be rejected out of hand. Obozo wants to blame Repubbies for all the fiscal cliff problems that arise. He wants a scapegoat, and will blame them for being partisan. He will not accept anything from the other side. He will accuse them of not being serious and the MSM will back him up. Notice that he has proposed nothing.......

Defense cuts + tax increases will bring down the deficit to in the short term. Barry will demand new “Obama tax cuts” in January and the GOP will go along. No regular joes in the middle class will feel anything additional in the short term by going over the cliff and the dims will have their permanent defense cuts.

Barry would love nothing better than to push us over the cliff with the GOP clinging to their no taxes pledge. Why do you want to give that to him? Far better for the House to just pass some “Obama Plan” tax increases and let the dims be proven frauds.

Either way I think we are headed over the cliff. This really this is just about posturing and framing the debate for the future.

...saying it doesn't go far enough and wouldn't pass the Senate anyway.

Shouldn't Boehner let Reid be the judge of these things? How can McConnell get the chance to surrender too, if Boehner doesn't let the Senate play its role in the process?

Stop letting Obama speak for the Senate.

But then all the Republicans need to do is say “let’s pay for these tax cuts” with real cuts.

Remember when Pelosi shut down the House to avoid a vote? She even turned the lights off in the chamber.

Why doesn't Boner adjourn for the year?

Boner doesn’t understand rule number 1 of negotiation: don’t bid against yourself. If your opponent rejects your offer, you don’t keep increasing your offer until he accepts it; you are bidding against your own number without getting any movement from the other side. At this rate, Obama could keep saying no until Boner goes further than Obama wanted. Politics at that level is blood sport. There’s no brownie points for “negotiating in good faith”, no merit badge for good effort. Play to win or go home.

The word you were looking for, I imagine, is “prostrate”.

Prostrate is to lay flat face down in a ritual of submission.

Prostate is a male reproductive gland below the bladder that produces the non sperm component of semen.

But what you said IS funny.

Thanks for correcting me. Those two words, very similar in spelling, but very different meanings.
