Handel wrote a very nice Winter Holiday Cantata, the One-Word Title of which is SO politically incorrect that it can barely be translated without offending SOMEONE. The closest thing we have would be :

“Handel’s PERSON WHO HAS SYMBOLICALLY HAD FOSSIL FUEL POURED ON HIS/HER HEAD, THUS SIGNIFYING THAT THEY ARE SPECIAL (But we know that we are ALL “Special!)”

This towering work contains the famous “Halleluwhoever Chorus”, “I Know that My Government Bailout Lives”, and other magnificent Winter Holiday Tunes.

I am looking forward to tomorrow! :-)

I am posting Christopher Hogwood’s period instrument “Messiah” on Saturday night in the Chapel thread, BTW.

I love it when they use the period instruments.

“Messiah” is one of my all-time favorite pieces of music. I play it every night as I fall asleep. Sometimes I alternate with Rachmaninoff’s “Liturgy of St John Chrysostom.” Of course, there are no instruments in that one, period or otherwise, as it is all a Capella.

Almost every one of the arias and choruses of "Messiah" offers an opportunity for fun with the title, and I had to cut out a number of them because my new titles were just too offensive. What survived is funny.

For example, "Then Shall the Eyes of the Blind be Opened (And the Obamacare Fee Charged)”

There's a lot more.
