After the massacre in Newtown, Conn., last Friday, some radio stations across the country have pulled Ke$has Die Young single from rotation, TMZ reports.
The Warrior song was the No. 3 single on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time of the tragic shooting, but it looks like the track is now plummeting from the charts. On Saturday, TMZ reports, airplay had dropped by 3 million listeners, and by Monday, that figure had fallen even further to about 148 million listeners a 19 million drop from before the tragedy.
The last time a song or artist dropped this steeply? When the Dixie Chicks got themselves banned from country radio for dissing President Bush.
EVERY DAY violent imagery is fed to young, disturbed minds. Not one serious person thinks the federal government should be able to approve or disapprove what songs we sing.
I have seen this Ke$ha girl praised as a great new singer. Whatever.
I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums Oh, what a shame that you came here with someone So while you're here in my arms Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young
We're gonna die young We're gonna die young
Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young
Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young
Young hearts, out our minds Running 'til we outta time Wild child's lookin' good Living hard just like we should Don't care who's watching when we tearing it up (You Know) That magic that we got nobody can touch (For sure)
Looking for some trouble tonight (yeah) Take my hand, I'll show you the wild, side Like it's the last night of our lives (uh huh) We'll keep dancing 'til we die
I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums Oh, what a shame that you came here with someone So while you're here in my arms, Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young
We're gonna die young We're gonna die young
Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young
Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young
Young hunks, taking shots Stripping down to dirty socks Music up, gettin' hot Kiss me, give me all you've got It's pretty obvious that you've got a crush (you know) That magic in your pants, it's making me blush (for sure)
Looking for some trouble tonight (yeah) Take my hand, I'll show you the wild side Like it's the last night of our lives (uh huh) We'll keep dancing 'til we die
I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums Oh, what a shame that you came here with someone So while you're here in my arms, Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young

Well, I thought it was interesting.
I heard this song on the radio the other day. I could hardly believe what I was hearing. Pre-teens are listening to this garbage. It's not just the preoccupation with death; it's the idea being presented that we are creatures without souls.
Don't parents even question the pervasive, ubiquitous fascination with vampire movies? Do they even hear the words "that magic in your pants" in that catchy hip hop tune coming through their child's headphones? Once again, the trouble boils down to the elimination of Judeo-Christian values in today's American society, first and foremost among them being the sanctity of life.
There’s nothing violent about this song. This is just getting stupid. People are becoming unhinged.
No, nothing especially violent, but the lyrics support a fascination with death. I don't know if you have young children, or know young children, or are somehow related to young children, but there does seem to be a pre-occupation with death that permeates the culture now.
Just look at the recent spate of vampire movies--dead or un-dead, it doesn't matter. Look at "Hunger Games," a series of books that present a dystopian view of the world, where kids kill other kids at the government's request.
Look at the "YOLO" mindset, that is prevalent on social media. YOLO is an acronym for "You Only Live Once," sort of a calling card for today's youth. At one level, the saying can mean, "sieze the day...don't be afraid to try new things...make the most of your youth." But I fear today's youth interpret it in a much more fatalistic way.
Say what you will about social media and sites like Facebook and their merits. On Instagram--where I monitor my child's usage--there are frequently questions posed to solicit replies or "likes" -- questions like, "If I were to die tomorrow, what's the one thing you'd want me to know?" Or, "If your world ended tomorrow, what would you do tonight?"
So these lyrics by themselves are not violent, but they contribute to an already-violent culture. Worse, they poison our youth, just a little. And it only takes a little poison to ruin even the best of wines.
Reminiscent of Billy Joel’s ‘Only the Good Die Young’
