Surely you are not saying, “I have mine, or I’ll buy mine, before the ban so it doesn’t matter?”
What makes you think that the left will stop short of an outright ban on possession, without a grandfather clause if they win this battle?
No (I think you might have started reading in the middle of a long conversation thread). I started by pointing out the the ban on the private "transfer" on so called assault weapons would be unenforceable, because there are no registration records kept for them so there would be no way to prove the transfer took place before or after the ban (unless you were stupid enough to pay by check or give a dated receipt).
"Cherrio" pointed out that more ominous word in the bill was the ban on "possession". That is when I responded that that I interpreted possession to be the same as the 1994 bill, which would grandfather in existing gun owners.
I certainly wasn't endorsing the ban and will fight it tooth and nail if it looks like it will become law. And then do my best to violate it once it does...civil disobedience and all that stuff the liberal love, except when it's used against them.
