Joe Manchin: ‘I’m so proud of the NRA’

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, who suggested earlier in the week that the time had come for some gun control restrictions, said on Wednesday that he’s “not supporting a ban on anything” and he repeatedly defended and praised the NRA.

“I’m not supporting a ban on anything. I’m supporting a conversation on everything,” Manchin

Folks, don't for a minute think that us pro 2nd amendment folks aren't having an effect. After Joe Manchin jumped on the Diane Feinstein/Obama gun control bandwagon, he got SAVAGED in the West Virgina press and we shut down his phone lines. Since then he's been madly backtracking on West Virginia talk radio and claiming he was taken out of context and didn't say what he said. This is his latest attempt to run from the gun control he endorsed Monday...

So far it doesn’t look like the gun control crowd is getting any help from the GOP either.

I emailed him this week. I also talked with staffers of all of WV’s representatives. so far I haven’t heard back from Manchin. I’m not surprised he’s swamped.

Everyone in Congress needs to get the message, “Remember Gore?”

they need to allow CCW in schools. And address the mental health issues that have been swept under the rug.

I wonder how the red state democrat senators that are up for reelection in 2014 (Mark Begich-Alaska, Mark Pryor-Arkansas, Mary Landrieu-Louisiana, Max Baucus-Montana, Kay Hagan-North Carolina, Tim Johnson-South Dakota and Jay Rockefeller-West Virginia) feel about falling on the sword so Obama gets a gun control victory...

The man’s been governor, now he’s elected Senator, twice. I wonder if he is setting himself up to be a “centrist” Dem nominee in 2016 or 2020? Don’t think the Dem party would be immune from having half a dozen Marxists running against each other, with Manchin getting a plurality as a fresh face who can appeal to Reagan Dems. After 8 years of Obama, a lot of Dems will be ready for something different.

I suspect that Manchin is a pretty smart operative, and he is looking to expand his reach by talking about “conversation”.

Looks like Carl Levin is planning to retire because he’s all for banning as many guns as possible now and saying such things is pretty risky in Michigan.

And speaking of educating Joe Manchin, would somebody please remind Piers Morgan that if it were not for American guns, civilian and military, he would be doing the news in German? I’m old enough to remember when England BEGGED for our sporting weapons and anything else that would shoot, since they were reduced to using broomsticks.

Begich will say and do anything to stay in office. Jumping on the gun control bandwagon would be political suicide in Alaska.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

He's Clintonesque in that respect. But, I don't see much chance of him ever getting the Democrat Nomination baring a miracle, he has too long a track record in West Virginia of being on the wrong side of the national democrat party on social issues like abortion and gay marriage. Heck he even refused to endorse Obama or attend the democrat convention.

Obama can and, I fear, will, do whatever he wants with an Executive Order.

This is a very good thing. We have to put the fear of losing their jobs in these spineless politicians. It can be done. They must learn to fear us more than the MSM.

Remember, he’s a Democrat. The days when there were good Democrats like Alabama Senator James Allen or Louisiana Rep. John Rarick are long gone. I wouldn’t trust a modern-day Democrat any further than I could throw an ice box.

My guess is he answered the phone when Wayne LaPierre called to jerk Manchin’s leash. WLP is probably making many of those calls before that Friday press conference and arranging for a class picture with these linguini-spined, fair-weather “patriots”.

Yes, many will betray for that little footnote in liberal history, like ol’ John Warner voting against Judge Bork.

I am from PA and I contacted him.

People need to make a commitment to this, whether you are a pistol shooter or a black powder person. Do not think for a second that your gun of choice is not on the list of these bastards.

Game on.

I contacted him earlier this week and I am from PA. The fact that he was considering flipping really pissed me off and I do not even live in WV.
