Mexican beauty queen Susana Flores Maria Gamez and four others died in a brutal gun battle between Sinaloa cartel members and the Mexican military in November. CBS News has learned that one weapon recovered from the area of the crime scene was originally purchased by federal agent George Gillett, an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) manager who was faulted by the Inspector General in Operation Fast and Furious.
Gillett was the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of ATF Phoenix when Fast and Furious started. The recovered weapon is a so-called FN Herstal pistol nicknamed a "cop-killer" because of its designation as a "weapon of choice" for Mexican drug cartels.

'Gillett has acknowledged to CBS News that it was likely his weapon, but says he sold it sometime in 2011 to someone through the Internet.'
So now Eric Holder is killing Mexican beauty queens....
Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.
Let Freedom Ring,
But, he is arguing that the sidearm used in this cartel slaughter was not a Fast and Furious weapon, but was his own personal weapon which, by some cosmic coincidence, just happened to find its way into the hands of a cartel murderer through entirely separate channels in a private sale.
...sold it sometime in 2011 to someone through the Internet...
Maybe he faxed it to them?
oh sure he sold it.
Probably not going to happen with guys like this standing in line to enforce that and other laws.
Yea. Just read it. Doesn’t come out until after the election. The MSM is so corrupt that is difficult to comprehend. Most people have no idea how bad things are going to get, but the MSM have an answer: It is all the fault of Conservatives and Republicans, especially gun owning white males.
It would be interesting to know what Gillett’s alibi is for when the shoot-out occured.
I am flabbergasted. Speechless even. Heavens to Murgatroid!
Sharyl Attkisson is still on the job.
WOW is right. The elites are brazen
A federal agent George Gillett, an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) manager who was involved in F&F sold his personal handgun to “someone over the internet”?
I would seriously like to see this weapon tracked all the way back to the date of manufacture.
Issa should demand this guy produce FFL records for the transfer. If he can’t, he should be charged with illegal firearms trafficking.
I trust the general public will be able to use that excuse when ATF comes to collect their guns. "Sorry, Mr. ATF agent, sir. I don't have any guns. I sold 'em on the inerwebz to somebody, sometime, somewhere."
So then there are digital records. Let's see them. I would not ask such a thing, but he is a government official in the middle of an investigation about the government running guns to the Mexican cartels.
I do not think it inappropriate to ask for confirmation of his cover story.
“I trust the general public will be able to use that excuse when ATF comes to collect their guns.”
The ATF won’t be collecting any guns, no where, no how, no way.
The centerfire brass is reloadable, but it takes a fairly expensive resizing die and the case should is easily crumpled if you attempt to put a 40 gr .224 back in. Find a 40 gr .223 and you'll be more successful in reusing your brass.
Holy cow. What kind of an outfit are they running, anyway?
“’Gillett has acknowledged to CBS News that it was likely his weapon, but says he sold it sometime in 2011 to someone through the Internet.’ “
And I’m sure the news babe reader just sat there and shook her little head.....
Our government has become a gang. The House Pubbies could do a lotta right just by defunding this dysfunctional agency toot sweet!!!
