Good for you. It’s way below zero (Fahrenheit) here now, and I’ll wait for the mass panic to settle. It’s likely that next year will bring more important concerns (likely inflation, maybe market instabilities, more probable international wars, etc.) and time for recreation (including plinking).
As for the popularity of stories about the end of the world, many will only think it’s the end for them (government layoffs, maybe in a couple of years or more, poorer economy and smaller government to follow). And many of us Baby Boomers and older folks will be signing out during the twenty or so years to come (the end of each, our own little worlds, mostly by natural causes). I hope that we’re not treated to the mass insanity about the passing on of our rotten generation for the whole twenty or so years. And may the current young generation do what we haven’t done: real work in an adequately large manufacturing base.
