21-years-old or over can obtain their Concealed Handgun License or purchase a handgun. 18-year-old's are allowed to purchase a rifle, which is a firearm with a longer barrel
This reporter must be assuming her audience is made up of two year olds...or Obama voters...

Man am I glad we have that cleared up for us. I’m sure that a lot you were also confused about the difference between a handgun and a rifle. I guess we should contact and thank the reporter for giving us that little tid bit of info. We are SO dumb. LOL!

Got to start somewhere, LOL!
Most Zero voters probably don't know a hammer from a screw driver, so I see no problem with basic definitions.
Mostly, these monographs are aimed at the non knowing, hoping to persuade.
Those who already know what is, they don't have to read this stuff to get any more info than what they already carry around between the ears.

I know what you are trying to say but don't assume that everyone has even a basic understanding of firearms. My MIL is a good conservative but is ignorant and terrified of firearms. She is convinced that all AR-15’s are fully automatic rifles easily available at Walmart for anyone to buy at any time. She also believes that every firearm in the USA is already registered with the ATF/FBI as well and that you can't sell or transfer them without breaking a law. I could go on and on but you get my drift.

City folk need some things explained go em.
Shotguns are also considered “long guns” on the 4473.
The author must have assumed that only rifles are ‘long-guns’. Next thing will be that they will describe long guns as pistols with “really really long barrels”.
We’ve got a lot of educating ahead of us. Starting with the low-knowledge “reporters” and “news-readers”.
