Texas is big and in some areas, distances to help are far away. Same with stores - these people in the great area of Texas only travel such distances one a week or once every two weeks.
If you want privacy, Texas has the land to provide that but you give up convenience to law enforcement, hospitals, etc..
Doesn’t matter if 1st responders are 20 minutes away or even less. The attack took 7 minutes according to reports, and it was over. Armed Police officers at every school is the answer, then the 1st responders are already there. No one has tried to hijack an airplane with box cutters since the air marshalls program started.
The old saw that insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results applies. Gun-free zones have repeatedly been established, and subsequently violated; Newtown CT being one of the latest examples.
Time for some “outside-of-the-box” thinking. Train and arm all teachers and administrators, and fire those who object—After all, it’s for the children.
