Racism at the Times
Commentary Magazine ^ | 12.19.2012 - 12:10 PM | by John Steele Gordon

There is a New York Times op-ed this morning that is somewhere beyond appalling. It is by Adolph L. Reed Jr., a political science professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

Professor Reed writes about the appointment of Rep. Tim Scott to replace the retiring Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina. Scott, in Reed’s view, is essentially an Uncle Tom because he does not agree with the politics of most black Americans:

[Says Reed:] ". . . his politics, like those of the archconservative Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas, are utterly at odds with the preferences of most black Americans. Mr. Scott has been staunchly anti-tax, anti-union and anti-abortion."

Of course, Tim Scott will not be representing black Americans in the Senate, he will be representing South Carolinians, who are, overwhelmingly, staunchly anti-tax, anti-union and anti-abortion. So it would seem that while white people can be liberals or conservatives according to the dictates of their thinking, blacks cannot. If you’re black but not liberal, in Professor Reed’s worldview, then you’re not really black.

.....

Professor Reed calls his piece “The Puzzle of Black Republicans.” But the puzzle is easily solved. Tim Scott is not a black Republican. He’s a Republican who happens to be black. Professor Reed sees racism in everything. But if he’d like to see a real racist, he needs only to look in a mirror.

Adolph??!?

That aside, I am utterly unsurprised that the New York Times features a hardcore racist in their editorial section.

Naturally, all criticism against future Senator Scott is racist according to the paradigm established when Obama was also selected for national office...

...this “Adolf” is an outlier.

Let me juke and jive a bit. Now, am I at one with black “preferences?” As far as I can tell, black “preferences”=what can I steal from the taxpayers?

No, FAILING to criticize Senator Scott is racist, you see. Scott is a conservative, and therefore, it is racist NOT to insult him, criticize him, and use every manner of perjoratives and lies. < /liberal>

Tim Scott WILL NOT be joining the Congressional Black Caucus.

Therefore he is no racist.

Where does it say that if a black politician does not go along with “black preferences “ he is not qualified for office.

From what I have seen in the Congressional Black Caucus, and the White House those black who do go along with Black Preferences are bankrupting America, costing blacks jobs, and running America like Mandella ran South Africa.

Right into the ground.

So if I call T Scott C Thomas and A West the N word I will be a great champion of racial tolerance and social justice?

But if I call Obama a Marxist when he crawls into Lenin's tomb to have intimate relations with the rotting corpse I am a racist?

Easy enough—it's just the Red Kryptonite speaking.

Kind of like the rant by the ESPN announcer that RGll is not really a black because of his white Republican girl friend. the announcer has since appologized but has not recanted his racist views. You can only be black if you toe the line with the democratic party.

Union members do not have to toe the line! you can be a union memeber and a republican. you are not denouced as not be a union memeber. You can be homnosexual (not that there is anything wrong with that) and a republican and there in no one denouncing you as not being a real homosexual. You can be white and any party affiliation is okay. no one denounces you as not being white or white enough.

BUT, BY GOD, IF YOU ARE BLACK, THEN YOU BETTER GET LINE OR YOU WILL BE ROUNDLY AND THROUROGHLY DENOUNCED, ATTACKED, VILLIFIED, AND TORMENTED UNTIL YOU DO GET IN LINE.

Get you slave chains right over here sir and this is your talking points. Like the press, you are not to deviate one iota from the script.

Why blacks allow this to happen to themselves, and the carnage they face everyday in their self-made ghettos in the inter-cities is beyond me. They not only accept it but they embrace it.

It is 2012 (still) and ONLY those Blacks who are willing to reside on the Liberal “Plantation” are allowed to be known as “Black” people.
How sad that Caucasians, Asians, Native Americans are allowed to have varying opinions on everything, but only a single people are REQUIRED to toe the party line.
That is where the racism really resides.

Anybody else notice that there are almost never any references to 'archleftist' like this gent's use of "archconservative Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas"? Doesn't it seem that use of these pejorative adverbs and adjectives is reserved for describing the "Vast Rightwing Conspiracy" members by the media. I wonder why?

Dems owned their bodies in the 19th century, bought their free will in the 20th century, and their souls in the 21st.

Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of pottage.

If you are black, the DNC owns you. You need to get in line.

Don’t even think about having an independent thought. If they want to know what you think they’ll tell you.

Just read the teleprompter and you’ll be fine.

I’ve known a few black people who were adamant in their assertions that all Republicans are racists. But I’ve never been able to pin them down on why they are against conservative ideology. They’d say things like pointing out certain people, supposedly identified as conservative by the leftist establishment, as saying or doing something “racist” by leftist definitions. But I’ve never been able to get any of them to say exactly why they disapprove of conservative ideas.

And Adolph Reed proves once again that racism today has nothing to do with race, but leftist/communist ideology
