I actually have more food on my shelves right now than that guy in the picture and I don't consider myself a prepper at all. I just like to buy in bulk when it comes to long shelf items like canned foods, batteries, nuts, bottled water, and yes, even tin foil.
I have no illusions that this would save me in a TEOTWAWKI event. No amount of food and supplies would save you because eventually, other people will figure out what you have and they will be beating a path to your door. They will ask nicely at first but if you refuse them, they will eventually come back at night with torches. And for those "yahoos" who brag on their guns and ammo, sure, you might be able to hold out a little longer but eventually you are going to run out of bullets or fall asleep and an angry mob will eventually climb over the dead bodies and they will be ANGRY. The ending will not be pretty.
My opinion is that the true survivors of a TEOTWAKWI event will be those who have skills to barter. Those who know carpentry, dentistry, doctoring, engineering skills, etc., will become the elite of the emerging society. Others with no skills to offer, and that includes the idle rich, will just be seen as useless mouths to feed. They will have the most to fear.

It was so bad, so *ahem* controversial my computer started aflame and we lost power at our home for the past two days. To say the least I was worried.
Okay, okay, it was a snowstorm......all north and west though Darks, no white stuff in Detroit. Somehow, it WAS your fault.........
