Any hope that Jon Hammar, the Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a disputed gun charge, might be freed in time for Christmas has apparently been dashed by a terse letter a top Mexican diplomat sent to Hammar’s congresswoman.
The two-page missive from Mexican Ambassador to the United States Arturo Sarukhan to Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), who has been aggressively advocating for Hammar's release, leaves little hope of a diplomatic solution. In it, Sarukhan takes a thinly veiled swipe at the U.S., blaming it for gun proliferation south of the border.
"As you know well, Mexico has had very stringent gun-control laws in place for many years, and have reinforced their application as a result of the flow of weapons illicitly purchased in the U.S. and then trafficked into Mexico and into the hands of transnational criminal organizations," Sarukhan wrote.
Hammar has been stuck in a notorious, drug cartel-controlled prison just 15 miles south of the U.S. border since Aug. 13, after he crossed into Mexico and declared an antique shotgun to Mexican customs officials.
Sarukhan failed to mention that Tamaulipas, the state which the CEDES prison in Matamoros is located, is controlled by the Los Zetas Cartel, arguably the most vicious of the cartels.
Hammar’s father said the letter is fraught with statements at odds with what he knows and what his son has told him.

Wow, they’re taking it out on the poor guy for Obama’s evil policies.

Where is Obama? That’s right, he’s on vacation AGAIN.
Obama started it with the Fast & Furious crap, and we all know how he perceives “collateral damage”.
Obama will keep quiet unless he finds a way to lie his way out of his personal involvement in meddling in the affairs of Mexico, but that would require a form of conscience, so I haven’t much hope for that Marine.
Obama, his handlers, his World wide supporters are using their control over the most powerful Nation the Earth has ever known to reap benefits for their goals of becoming the Power over the World. One Marine means nothing to their lust for, their goals leading to that power.
But this guy doesn’t even look like The One. Why would he intervene?
I’ve already avoided going to mexico for vacations. Nothing left to boycott except cars made there.

Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.
Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.
Americans can’t own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash they’ll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the “fresh”. That’s just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea let’s give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in their elections .
Contact the Mexican embassy and let them know how you feel about the imprisoning of US Marine war veteran Jon Hannar.

Getting our guy our of a Mexican jail sounds like a perfect job for a SEAL team. It’s not like we care if the Mexicans are pissed off about it. If it doesn’t work out, then we just seize the country, make it a territory and make the Mexs pay income tax.
I would like to take a company of Falluja Veteran Marines into Tijuana and see how tough those “vicious locals” are.
We’d never make it back past US HOMELAND SeCURITY though.
This same crap was going on in 56 when I was at Pendleton.
You don't want to seize Tijuana unless you have gloves on.
