Boehner seen holding top post despite purge
Washington Times ^ | 12/12/12 | By David Sherfinski and Seth McLaughlin

Despite rumblings from some Republican backbenchers, Speaker John A. Boehner’s hold on the House’s top post appears secure after key conservative lawmakers said they don’t expect anyone to challenge him.

Several congressman who were booted from their committees last week have refused to commit to voting for Mr. Boehner when the House elects its speaker next year. But the discontent has not spread widely among their GOP colleagues, who generally give the Ohio Republican good marks for playing a difficult hand in the current budget negotiations.

-snip-

The four lawmakers who were booted from their committees remain angry, and they have gotten support from some conservative groups who say the purge shows why Mr. Boehner should go.

“If Speaker Boehner wants to come back to my district, he’s not going to be met with very much welcome,” said Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, who lost his seat on the House Budget Committee. “You know, I spent a lot of time saying the stuff about, ‘Speaker Boehner’s doing the best job he can do.’ I did that, you know, for a year, year and a half. We’re not doing the best job we can do. I’ve been here for almost two years — it’s not acceptable to anyone.”

RE :”Boehner was defeated by 50+ conservative GOP house members who told him to take his purge and shove it.”

Who were joined by Pelosi and every rat in the house who want to see our taxes go up and Republicans getting the blame for it.

But in way this post is wrong.
This successful raise in our taxes tonight is a great step towards replacing Bohner with Pelosi.

If these *conservatives* are so brave then how come none of them will challenge Bohner as Speaker?

Answer: Because they figure Pelosi will just knock them off after this to become Speaker, so instead they will just whine and complain until the House makes the real (Big) cave next year to O that will show that defeating this was a disater. And what will their legacy be then?

BUMP!

__________

Sobber of the House Boehner caved-in immediately after the November election, and then stupidly tried to meet Benghazi-Coward B. Obama’s demands.

Finally Boehner agreed to tax “Millionaires and Billionaires,” just like Obama pledged to do in his 2012 Election Campaign.

Could the Democrats ask for an easier cave-in artist than Boehner?

Amen, Sister! If any of these bozos think Boehner is all that, then there is no hope for the Repubs. My rep is Justin Amash, so I feel a bit lucky to have a Rebel with a cause. Unless this is all street theater, and I am being deceived once again.

The “GOP elite” is exactly the problem.

These “A List” quasi-Republicans — the heart of the Stupid Party — has done themselves in. Time for them to go.

We need a CONSERVATIVE party. The GOP is done.

And if the new party puts in a decent showing in the mid-terms, then they won’t be called a “third” party when (and if) 2016 rolls around.

Boehner will resign his position after this debacle plays out to some sort of a deal that is further capitulation to Obama. Boehener’s done. Pelosi will not be elected Speaker.

PJ I totally agree. Someone needs to step up and take on the Bawler, and I doubt REAL conservatives have given up.

Deal?? on taxes??

First you claim that you just saved us a tax increase with this defeat yet now you claim he will make a deal?

Look, that *deal* will come after lots of those same *conservatives* who killed this bill are begging him for a much worse deal with O than this one, because their voters will be screaming at them for raising their taxes. They will come to him.

This defeat will be a curse on this nation.

"The House of Representatives elects the speaker of the house on the first day of every new Congress. Each party nominates a candidate. There is usually some degree of consensus within each party's leadership as to who the favored candidate will be. Whoever receives a simple majority of the votes is elected."

Could be interesting -- but I don't see too many Republicans voting for Pelosi as Speaker. If the choice is between Crybaby and Pelosi, even the conservatives will vote for him.

Three weeks ago, this would have troubled me. Now that I no longer give a smelly Obama about the RINOblican party, I ‘m fine.

You're right, I feel the same way! I couldn't care less what happens anymore to the GOPE!

Boehner will do a deal with Pelosi and Reid and Obama and there will be enough RINO votes to pass the deal. And the GOP conservative who defeated Boehner today will not vote with the Rats and the RINOs. Your support for Flop Boehner is laughable and pathetic.

I’m sure you are right. But name one person who has said they will challenge Boner? There are conservatives in the House. Where the hell are these people? Conservatives as a group seem incapable of national leadership.

national conservative leaders? Palin? Gone. West? Can’t even hold a house seat. Santorum and Gingrich? Helped nominate Romney. Until we get some strong conservative leaders that can herd the cats we have nothing.

After this Plan B debacle, all three leaders must go.
Bonehead, Cantor and McCarthy. Now.

Boehner will not run for speaker after this debacle. He’s done. There will be someone else nominated and it won’t be Cantor.

Your victory in raising our taxes will be a disaster. While claiming you stopped a tax increase by supporting one you have made sure that Obama gets the best possible deal he wanted by getting the GOP to take the BLAME for Obama’s automatic tax increase on most voters.

You have made sure that no one wants Bohners job.
You have handed the country over to Pelosi.

Your victory will be a curse on this nation.

You worry too much. You will get what u want.
Bonehead will work around those GOP rebels by working with Obama
and the Democrats. Bonehead will work around conservatives, by working
with Democrats just like he did on the debt ceiling.
And u will get what u want. Taxes on the rich, with the help of Rat votes.
Chill out.
