How much more of an EPIC fail could Obama and Hillary's policy be?

The answer is NONE.

I remember how Dubya was MOCKED by liberals for his remarks on Putin.

Obama and Hillary have been more disastrous regarding Russia than Bush. And the media? Silent.

Probably for the best. Many of those potential adoptees have proven themselves sociopathic.

This condemns thousands of children to a twilight existence in Russian institutions that are reminiscent of US mental hospitals of the 1950, then being turned out in a cold society that shuns them as 2d or 3rd class persons or worse.

This is a victory for no one. Putin is a cold man.

Considering how dire Russia’s situation is when it comes to demographics, I don’t see why one would criticize Putin for this. Russia is becoming like Japan. They are not having children. Now, I don’t understand why these children are not being adopted by Russians, unless what someone else said is true that many of them have severe emotional problems.

Still, why should we expect another country to give us their kids?

Adoption is not generally accepted in Russia

The children in institutions are regarded as offspring of undesirables, usually alcohlics or drug abusers or mentally ill parents, or illegtimate and not accepted by the birth mother’s family or cnat be raised by a sinlgle woman given the lack of support in Russian society and economy.

The longer the kids spend in institutions the more they deteriorate. Kids who have notable imperfections, even missing limbs, are consigned to “Imbecile Asylums”

God help any of mixed race.

I’ve adopted 2 and been in many orphanages in one region and seen for myself

Many times these adoptions are corrupt and it is actually trafficking children. Esp, in Russia.

Everyone knows about it- and American churches even look the other way.

This news actually makes me have some respect for Russia. They might be protecting their citizens from Americans coming and preying on them, and supporting and encouraging human trafficking and child laundering in their country.

I have witness some very weird stuff with foreign adoptions, thru mega churches lately- (which new age pastor Rick Warren encourages, btw)

There is a huge amount of money that changes hands to adopt foreign children.

I know someone who needed upwards of $50,000 to adopt from the Ukraine in the last 6 months. Look up the stories. Google is full of blogs and stories on the corruption.

Yup, an honest (or one not so lazy) media would cover this story from this angle.

That’s very sad. Then the country will reap what it has sown.

I think you mean, “droog”, which means “friend”.

We have adopted Russian children, among others.

Russia’s indigenous population is plummeting. They’re down to less than 150 million, and falling. They need to stop the hemorrhaging of their population base. They even have started to offer extra benefits for families that have more than a certain number of children.

The US is one of the few countries with enough people having enough capital to adopt thousands of Russian children every year. The other countries do not adopt nearly as many Russian children as the US, so they pose no real threat to the population of Russia.

There were also a couple of very high profile cases of abuse of adopted Russian children by American parents. This outraged the Russian people, and rightly so.

Russian orphans have a high rate of suicide and many turn to drugs, organized crime and prostitution after leaving the orphanage. Nevertheless, Russians are not thrilled about foreigners taking Russian children out of Russia for any reason. One Russian said to me, “Better a Russian orphan than an American.”

Russia last year passed a law that forbids adoption by homosexuals or single parents, to the great consternation of the “international community”.

As an aside, I asked one Russian where all the orphans come from. He said some parents cannot afford to take care of them, but many come from prostitution. I asked why the prostitutes did not take advantage of the free, State-sponsored abortions. He bristled and replied, “There are some things even a WHORE would not do!” thus establishing my perception that American politicians, as a whole, have a lower moral standard than the average Russian streetwalker.

sad sad sad disinformation

when we adopted our kids from Russia we met many kind Russians, social workers, doctors, orphanage directors, even the judge, who were grateful to us for givng 2 kids a chance to have a family and good life

if Putin is really concerned about these kids maybe he will bump up the funding for the orphanages or greatly widen the foster system so they can feed, treat and educate these kids to have a chance at a real life in Russian society, instead of the likely life many face - permanent outcasts, addiction and prostitution

“Better a Russian orphan than an American”

Typical Russian bluster
Big talk from a politician who never lived like this nor his own kids

“The Children of Leningradsky”
There are 3 parts to this documentary, watch all if you dare

I agreed with everything you wrote until the last claim that Russians have a moral revulsion against abortions. Not true. Abortion was widespread throughout the Soviet era in Russia and continues to be very prevalent today. This has contributed to the infertility and demographic problem there.

No, it is the truth. Children are stolen and sold, many times. Sometimes the parents are paid, and told to sign off their rights, so that they can all have a better life.

Of course the people are very nice and helpful, if they are getting paid a whole bunch of money, they would be very kind and helpful. Some of them might believe they are doing the right thing to get the child into a country that has wealth, of course- but that does not mean the child is not being sold.

I hope and pray that your adopted child was legit, some of them are of course. The truth is that many of them have been stolen and manipulated from their families for money.

It could be that foreign countries are cracking down on human trafficking. I hope they are.

The solution to the problems of any nation's orphans should be the responsibility of the people of that nation. No, this is not a "victory." It is a step in taking responsibility for one's own.

What the "internationalization" of local social problems amounts to is a defeat for the very concept of the nation, as it has been understood in more responsible ages. It is tantamount to a defeat for the concepts of individual, social, community, ethnic & national responsibility.

While conditions in orphanages may be deplorable; placing children in culturally & genetically incompatible situations can be even more deplorable. The idea that you are doing good in taking the risk, needs to be carefully evaluated. While Orson Wells was not really addressing this point in "Citizen Kane," the movie brilliantly challenged the notion that the most important thing for a developing child is to maximize his material well-being. There are a great many other considerations, to be focused on. Being raised among those closest to you, is obviously one of them.

I believe that Russia is turning back towards traditional Faith, and that the wide-spread acceptance of abortion as moral is declining. You can not expect all aspects of a 70+ year old regime to disappear completely, over-night.

Russians are at least looking back to their heritage for a renewed sense of purpose; even as we have reelected a man who has absolutely no real American roots; a man who sat in the pews for 20 years, while America was "damned!" A demagogue is seems intent on steering us in the direction from which Russia has been retreating!

The United States is becoming a third world country.

Listen to liberal elites speaking with glee about us becoming a ‘brown’ country - where we’re all servants to the elites... like it is in most ‘brown’ countries... Then watch liberal elites joyfully celebrating the country going broke - and the middle class disappearing...

Putin’s made the right call . this is no place to raise a family.
