Just Ban Guns - Yeah! That'll Work!

All the liberals want to ban guns as the solution to the horrible "assualt weapons" massacres we've seen in the last few years. Exactly how would that work? Would it work?

All the liberals want to ban guns as the solution to the horrible "assualt weapons" massacres we've seen in the last few years. Exactly how would that work? Would it work?

Of course, common sense would tell us that banning guns would NOT solve the problem. We've had some attempts by the federal government in our recent past that have demonstrated how well such a "ban" works.

For example - Prohibition! How many times are we told that Prohibition did not work. It was a Constitutional amendment and it was a nation-wide ban on the production and selling of alcohol as a beverage. And yet, in spite of the ban, alcohol was readlily available just about everywhere. You just had to know where to go to get it.

Another ongoing "ban" are illegal drugs, the so-called "war on drugs", right?

Please do not misunderstand, I'm not advocating removing restrictions on the sale of illegal drugs. I'm not a libertarian. But, the obvious problem with banning something is that, as everyone on this site has pointed out, it doesn't work! You can always get that item illegally, and, not just in small amounts, but as much as you want if you have the cash.

I just thought these two examples - prohibition and the war on drugs - are obvious illustrations of how federal bans on something the public is willing to pay for are worthless.

Just a thought.

On the bright side, once they ban guns they really can’t do much more. They have to STFU then, right? For the rest of us, it’ll just make firearms more expensive.

Better yet just ban crime. Oh, wait....that has already been done. Well then, everything is just fine, what’s all the fuss about?

The argument by the totalitarian statists is that banning guns will make it harder for wackos to kill and therefore bring down the murder rate when in fact banning guns has been proven to do the exact opposite as England has shown us when there murder rate went up 8 fold. But when have totalitarian statists even bothered to pay attention to facts?

What they should do is look at the bright side: If wackos can’t kill by guns, they’ll use gasoline and make molotov cocktails because being burned alive creates smoke which the totalitarian statists can then use to bolster their global warming hoax.

After guns the a##clowns will be busy banning knives, bats , chainsaws, axes, toenail clippers, scissors, spoons, umbrellas, bottles, cans, and frozen turkeys right down to hurtful hate language.

I have been in this fight all week about what to ban, what not to ban, rifles are for hunting, body armor is bad, body armor is good, blah blah blah.

What would be the constitutional issue if gun manufacturers included with every weapon sold a trigger lock? It won’t solve the problem, but it does add another layer of security, as minimal as it may be.

I’ve been registered at FR since 1998, and have yet to post a useless vanity thread. Why did you feel the need for a thread to make a comment that is not at all unique, and could have been added to the countless gun-control threads that already exist? Just asking.

Banning guns works. Just look at Chicago if you want proof...

Lets say a successful ban and peaceful confiscation of all “assault weapons” was carried out... I know, it assumes a lot.

The next time evil presents itself, convinces an unstable, drug influenced rage in someone who decides to take it out on the most innocent and vulnerable that he can think of, it will be potentially worse. A shotgun, sawed off with buckshot, or a Real “high power sniper rifle” 30.06 with a scope used on a playground, ... You get the point. The left will be ready, to take advantage of the crisis, to justify another round of gun control to bring the country in line... But it isn’t the tools or guns. It is the evil.
Evil is evil, and the only way to fight evil is the most obvious way. Not by disarming those who are not evil, or who would fight evil.

What will they try to ban or what liberty will they take from us when the next atrocity is with a bomb, or roadside explosive used on a school bus as in the Middle East?

When will people understand it isn’t the law abiding citizen we need to change, regulate, restrict and deny rights to?

And when will the left in this country stop denying that evil is real, and it is not in the form of an inanimate object but in the nature of one’s soul?

So you advocate continuing a policy that doesn't work?

Well, I think we really should consider legislation to get rid of rocks. You can do serious damage with them. And they are far too readily available. Some irresponsible people even have them in their yards.

I bought a handgun months ago and a big lock was included. That lock is still in the box and the gun is NOT in the box.

The one thing about guns that Hollywood has gotten right is that criminals can get any gun they want in any amount they want.
