Just watched it live.

Lots about a new NRA program... Asa Hutchinson to head it.

NOT ONE DAMN WORD ABOUT FIGHTING AGAINST THE NEW BANS BEING CALLED FOR.

Let’s make the White House and a 500 foot perimeter surrounding the kenyan a gun free zone. Good enough for my 6 year old girl, good enough for a marxist kenyan.

Incredibly stupid, and wasteful idea. The NRA is, I suspect, running scared for the first time, and attempting to deflect the liberal opposition. LaPierre looked like he was about to start crying, just like Boehner.

Incidents like Newton are fortunately, incredibly rare, random acts. A child has a GREATER chance of being killed in a school bus ( either in a traffic accident, or being hit by a car while getting on or off the school bus) than by a crazed gunman.

So, shall we now ban school buses?

Think all the Rat politicians will disarm their bodyguards? Think they will have to call 911 and wait for police to arrive if they are under attack?

POLL NEEDS FREEPING:

Reader Poll

Did you recently or will you soon buy a gun?
Yes, for self-defense.
Yes, before regulations increase.
Yes; I was just planning to.
I’m thinking about it.
No, I don’t need to or don’t want one.
No way; they should all be banned.

I prefer this idea... The Artemis Project.

Basically does the same thing, but does it with local carry permit holders amongst the Staff in our schools. Works in conjunction with local law enforcement and requires no monetary outlay by the school District.

Exactly. In liberal land...armed protection for politicians, celebrities, and media buildings = a good thing, while armed protection for kids = a bad thing.

I don’t think it’s stupid at all. Let’s, instead of uselessly sending billions of dollars to the likes of Egypt, invest that money into something that would actually work. Banks and armored cars are protected by guns, why not our children?

There is no announced specific gun(s) “ban” yet ... just rumor (which we know will end up being true) that there will be an attempt to ban certain guns. IMO, they are keeping their powder dry until they see exactly what Biden, et al will propose. The Leftists will over-reach and there will be plenty of ridiculousness to oppose. To make assumptions now will just give the media/Obama/Biden ‘ammunition’ to say that the NRA is unreasonable, etc. Let the Leftists put their “ban” proposal on the table first, then hit it head on with the outrage from gun owners that will ensue.

NOT ONE DAMN WORD ABOUT FIGHTING AGAINST THE NEW BANS BEING CALLED FOR.

Don't be silly -- of course, the NRA will fight them -- it didn't need to be said.

I thought he made some very good points, especially (paraphrasing) "We protect our money in banks with armed guards, we protect our politicians with armed guards, we protect our towns with armed police, but not only do we not protect our children, but the politicians have designated and advertised their schools as gun-free zones, so that insane killers know that they can go into the schools to kill our children with no fear of armed opposition."

I thought the press conference was great. I thought LaPierre did a great job. This was not the time to act beligerent. This was not the time to begin any type of negotiations, especially as there is NOTHING to negotiate. If you want to negotiate my 2nd Amendment then I get to negotiate your 1st Amendment. Fair? LaPierre correctly pointed to the moral rot in our society, such as the Kindergarten shooting game, Natural Born Killers, Kill Bill, etc. No one on the Left talks about this because they are made up of Lefties. After the recent election the Left are FULL of themselves and this is their opportunity to go after us, period. This will not stand! Actor Jamie Foxx no doubt would restrict law-abiding citizens gun right. No doubt, Jamie Foxx hates the NRA. Yet, Jamie Foxx recently told a national audience of young adults that, “I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that?” Make no mistake, this is about the Left effecting damage to Conservatives, nothing more.

Freep from a location other than home
Freeping from Firefox, Tools > Start Private Browsing
Freeping from Internet exploder, Tools > Start In Private Filtering (with filter cranked down)
Delete ALL history and cached data after dipping your toe.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn’t mean you aren’t following someone.....

Exactly, the NRA knows how to play politics, and they are using everything they’ve learned since establishing the NRA-ILA in 1975.

For them to put all their cards on the table now is ignorant.

Government officials are sometimes threatened so they have armed security around them.

Courthouses sometimes are threatened so they have armed security in the building.

Students/school buildings are sometimes threatened and no armed security is allowed.

I would say we don't care about kids/school buildings.

More children have been killed this year in Chicago than Newtown.

446 School age children shot in Chicago so far this year with strongest gun laws in country

The cesspool known as Chicago probably has the toughest gun laws in the country, yet despite all the shootings, murders, and bloodshed, you never hear a peep about this from the corrupt state run media. In Chicago, there have been 446 school age children shot in leftist utopia run by Rahm Emanuel and that produced Obama, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, etc. 62 school aged children have actually been killed by crazed nuts in Chicago so far this year with almost two weeks to go. So why isn’t this news worthy? Is it because it would embarrass those anti second amendment...

Lets ban Chicago also.

“[Assault weapons’] menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi- automatic assault weapons —anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun— can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.” Josh Sugarmann, executive director of New Right Watch, spokesman for the National Coalition to Ban Handguns, “Assault Weapons and Accessories in America,” policy report of New Right Watch and the Education Fund to End Handgun Violence, September 1988

“Self-interest has no place in society” Sandy Cuney, Handgun Control Incorporated, 5/6/94

“Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It does not matter if you have to distort facts or even lie.” Sarah Brady, Handgun Control, Inc., The National Educator, January, 1994

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them... ‘Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ‘em all in,’ I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.”-Dianne Feinstein, Senator, CBS-TV’s “60 Minutes,” February 5, 1995

Yeah. That dumbass code pick kook showed up to show her ignorance of serious matters again.
When socialist/communist democrats kill babies and the elderly (the useless eaters), it's ok. In fact, it's celebrated. Oboma get's another trophy.
When sane Americans try to stop any and all types of social killing, they get protested for their "hate" and get accused of being the baby killers and starving the elderly. What?

Unbelievable. When they look in the mirror, they don't see their own demons. So it must be true - Their evil has no reflection.

Had one person - just one - been armed at that school, that lunatic would have been stopped. All those children would be alive and playing outside today. And had that lunatic not been able to steal those weapons, he'd have built a bomb, or hacked up the school with a machete. He wanted to kill, and he would have tried anything.

This issue is WAY over the DUmmies head. They just don't get it. They're witnessing what liberalism has created, yet the truth still alludes them.

In quite a few States, I am almost certain you would be right.

There is hope for quite a few areas though...

At the school board meeting last night, the District I work for approved a Trap Shooting team for the first time in decades. Starts next spring. There were no objections and apparently the room was packed with parents as they were going to be addressing concerns about school safety as well.

Granted, we're fairly rural, but we're also a decent sized school district with about 3800 students and almost 500 staff.

***Running scared the “first time”??? They ran scared in 1968...***

It could have been worse in 1968.

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=29197

” If guns are to be kept out of the hands of the criminal, out of the hands of the insane, and out of the hands of the irresponsible, then we just must have licensing. If the criminal with a gun is to be tracked down quickly, then we must have registration in this country.

The voices that blocked these safeguards were not the voices of an aroused nation. They were the voices of a powerful lobby, a gun lobby, that has prevailed for the moment in an election year.

I’m sorry but anyone begging for more armed government officers is either naive at best or in cahoots to get more big brother established in as many places as possible.

The fact they aren’t arguing against any proposed gun bans cements the fact for me that they aren’t naive.

the solution isn’t more government armed officers at government schools. This is just expanding unionized big brother. the solution is one or more ccw folks at the school, that way idiots don’t know who’s armed and have no idea where the threat to them, exists - or how many threats there are to them.

Think how much money we’d save if the secret service was not allowed to be armed. Good grief. They wouldn’t need it anyway once they declared the White House a gun-free zone.

Gun free zones magically keep all guns out of them. No need for such lavish, unnecessary protection.

This appears to be what Texsas will do in the legislature that starts next year. It opens up schools for personnel to carry. Right now, it’s up to school boards to decide.
