Gungrabbing horseshit. They, the supposed parents concerned over their children’s safety wouldn’t think twice if a police officer entered their school with a (gawd, dread!) gun strapped to their waist, would they?

Why would a trained, sanctioned, checked-out, dedicated protector of their children be any different. Horseshit, just liberal horseshit.

Very quick. "It's almost like they were organized."

Community organized, that is.

reactions are ranging from hesitation to anger

No approval, no thoughtful consideration. Nope, the entire range of reactions is negative.

Superintendent Hank Grishman of the Jericho, N.Y., schools on Long Island says he is outraged by the idea. He says putting more guns in schools won't make children safer, and could even put them in the line of more gunfire.

Hey, stuperintendent, the Newtown shooting didn't stop until the cops showed up and brought whole lot more guns into the school.

Even though the most liberal President in history was just re-elected, I think this current debate is going to work in our favor.

There's too much information getting out there about how guns aid in self-defense.

I do believe that many, many schools and other institutions are going to employ armed guards in the wake of this debate thereby cutting down on gun violence.

And much more of the public will see that the NRA and gun advocates have been right all this time.

Oh sure! This crappola from the same network that gave us George Steponallofus in the debates with his non-sequiter and irrelevant questions designed to trigger a “GOP War On Women” smoke screen. You bet they are quick!!!

Let's look at flying commercially. The airport perimeter is secure and you have armed sky marshals on board the aircraft.

Let's look at schools. You have a porous perimeter that isn't very secure, even with the doors locked, and you have no armed presence inside.

Are leftists that stupid? Are they so brainwashed that their irrational fear of guns trumps the lives of the children entrusted to their care? This is where the debate needs to start. Schools have no control over external factors such as the mentally ill, violent video games that desensitize, the number of firearms owned by the public, the amount of ammo out there, etc. School administrators only control their respective schools. They need to start thinking in terms of securing their perimeter and having staff available as first responders, because when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Freaking a-hole. The only thing that wouldnt outrage him is to punish hundreds of millions of gun owners for the action of a lunatic. Better to lock up the lunatics and leave the rest of us alone.

There are schools that are in high crime areas that have low rates of crime on campus. I went to a private high school in one of the worst areas of Los Angeles. The campus is surrounded by walls and there are armed guards. The University of Southern California is another example. Newtown type massacres don’t happen there like they do at gun free schools.

Hank is irrational and should be fired immediately.

Hank is inviting a Sandy Hook style massacre at the schools of which he is the superintendent.

Shame on Hank!

Sure..instead of having trained armed people already at the school....let the cops show up 15 minutes after the shooting starts and disarm the cops at the door so the cops wont “put them in the line of more gunfire”

makes great liberal sense to me!....Geez!..../s (Cops aren't trained nearly as well for those situations as many ex-military NRA members...)

Maybe these selected parents would prefer that the schools be designated as Double Special Gun Free Zones, i.e., not only the victims but also now the perps are not allowed to possess guns.

As a parent, a gun owner, a life long shooter, a Marine, a carry permit holder, the son of Sheriff's Deputy, and a current school District IT Network Administrator...

I want everyone who feels capable of bearing arms, in schools, churches, malls, and elsewhere... To be able to do so without fear of prosecution.

Literally, it is the ONLY way to protect everyone everywhere under all circumstances.

Full stop. End of story.

And now that we know what you think of Obama, what do you think of what the NRA said?

Not this parent. There is already an armed deputy in my daughter’s school, and I can think of more than a couple of teachers and admins I wouldn’t mind being armed - they’re reservists and National Guard and retired military/leo

If you Google “School Resource Officers” you’ll discover there is a nationwide program that already is placing police officers in schools. They do it in my county and they hardly ever randomly gun down a student. They’re also great recruiters for a law enforcement career path. I’m completely baffled by those who are shocked by the concept.
