FREEP THIS POLL! The overwhelmingly leftist media spin machine is trying to play this one off as the NRA eating children. In reality, I think La Pierre's solution, while a good start, needs to go farther by allowing teachers or administrators to be armed as well.

FTR I think the PS system is as broken as the USSR circa 1983, but they could try putting real men in schools as authority figures. I know when pigs fly.

Pull all the cops from the courthouses and put them in the schools. They could win the WoD at the same time.

I applied to be a schoolteacher after college due to a lack of success finding a job in IT. I was quite a long way through the application process when everything fell off a cliff, and they stopped communication with me. It happened to coincide around the same period of time that my C&R FFL was approved.

In retrospect, I’m glad I didn’t get into education. It’s a thankless job with crap pay. I found a job in IT just 2 weeks later.

When did big government solutions become a conservative ideal?

Cowardice is a powerful motivator.

Perhaps this would also discourage pedophile teachers. Just saying.

If by “officer” you mean a teacher, principal or parent, then yes.

I could be wrong, but IIRC, the NRA wasn’t suggesting armed officers. I thought they wanted volunteers from the community, specifically former police and military or otherwise trained civilians.

Having armed guards at schools? Ridiculous idea. Our society didn’t need them before, and we don’t need them now. It won’t happen anyway, but if it does, it will bring unionized TSA gropers to the schoolhouse.

Besides, the chance of your kid being killed in a Newton-style shooting is less than being struck by lightening, twice on the same day.

LaPierre should stick to the common and true themes when dealing with the hostile leftist press - the CONSTITUTION, a violent society, HOLLYWOOD, TV, video games and the fact that the NRA is an absolute promoter of safety and training.

The school calls 9-11 to tell the police to come to the school....Of course they're expected to be armed.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone was there BEFORE an evenet?? It's called prevention.

There is no damn law that will stop bad people from arming themselves. Never has been....never will be.

I think the armed “officers” should be selected employees of the school. They should get a little extra pay just as a teacher does if they are also a coach.

We have the TSA, so why can’t we have the SSA, the School Safety Administration.

Imagine blue shirted security guards at at every school entrance screening all packages, patting down little kids for illegal PBJ sandwiches, and confiscating illegal substances from the high school kids.

It is a win-win for all. There could be a government union for them or we could just make it a subset of the Teacher’s union. To have uniformity in all the schools, the SSA would have to be federal. They wouldn’t even have to be armed. They could have those collapsible nightsticks that all the cool policeman have.

The SSA could be staffed with all the high schoolers that don’t go on to college. A ready made job machine for the US.

Any of you freepers want to sign up?

Just let the teachers/principalsparents carry guns (even if they need to take a course first), no need for more employees

No. We need to do what liberals do - they want to throw out the Constitution for a plan that has ZERO proof of working.

We need to do the same.

Conservatives can push for laws requiring all citizens to go to Church once a week. We think it’s a values problem, they think it’s guns - both groups are willing to force their will on the other.

I’m tired of the one sided trashing of the Constitution - we can do that too FOR THE CHILDREN - I’m sure they won’t object.

How about select teachers who have military experience or are hunters or gun safety teachers be made official School Marshals. They could earn a few extra bucks and not cost as much as an official full time armed guard. There is little chance of an armed guard being where needed anyway.

The simplistic genius of your statement is absolutely incredible. Of course! Why didn't anyone else think of that?

I live in a well to do area and for some stupid reason our school district (one of the tops in the state...) is having a real problem with heroin. I've lost count of the number of kids that have died this year from experimenting with heroin. One of the neighbor kids down the street was found dead in their back yard from a heroin overdose just two weeks ago.

Until then, I really had no idea it was going on. Where are the kids getting the heroin? In school.

One other comment: pull the armed guards from the courtrooms and watch how fast these liberal judges stop putting these dangerous repeat felons back out on the street and instead lock them up!!!
