Michael Steele: NRA presser was ‘disturbing’ (RINO Alert)

Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele called the National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre’s press conference Friday “very haunting and very disturbing,” in the wake of the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

“I don’t even know where to begin. As a supporter of the Second Amendment and a supporter of the NRA — even though I’m not a member of the NRA — I just found it very haunting and very disturbing that our country now is talking about arming our teachers and our principals in classrooms,” Steele said on MSNBC immediately after LaPierre finished his comments.

Steele continued: “What does that say about us? What does that say about us? I do not believe that is where the American people want to go. I do not believe that is the response that should be coming out of the tragedy out of Newtown.”

Delaware State Attorney General Beau Biden — who is Vice President Joe Biden’s son — said there wasn’t a meaningful dialogue in the press conference, in which LaPierre did not take reporters’ questions.

Biden added: “[There] has to be a much more robust and meaningful dialogue about whether there are certain types of weapons consistent with the second amendment … that just shouldn’t be in the hands of citizens other than those types of assault weapons that you take to battle that don’t belong in our communities. And that’s the discussion that I hope we have in a meaningful way.”

Israel armed their teachers after the Ma'alot Massacre, and hasn't had a similar event since... in 40 years.

What exactly is "haunting" about this?

Well! He pretty sums up the RINO party. After all, he was the head of it during the last throttling by the left.

We have no support at all! We are on our own and the only major group that supports citizens who are still free and intend to stay that way is the NRA.

I’m proud to say that I am a member and hope many others join. It is probably our last salvation.

disturbing that our country now is talking about arming our teachers and our principals in classrooms,

Prior to Michigan's "shall issue" bill being passed in 2000, taking effect in 2001, teachers with CPL's carried in their respective schools. Unfortunately that bill also created the "gun free zones" which made it illegal for them to carry any more.......

One of my best friends was a vice-principal in Warren, MI, and not only he but a number of other male teachers carried concealed until the law passed.

And for what it's worth, they would regularly visit a local shooting range to practice their skills........

The dumbest argument I just heard on Fox was by some dumbass babe who stated that "billions of dollars" would need to be spent to arm our schools with security personnel..and nobody challenged her.

The problem is not the arming of principles / teachers or the st,atoning of armed guards. The problem is the moral decay that has led us to this point. We should all be afraid. Civilization is splitting into good and evil camps. If our society does not stomp down on evil hard, evil is going to win.

I agree our public schools and the medias culture of death are teaching the children that life has no value. That's a given. BUT, the armed guards at school is a bad idea. Instead, allow the staff that wants to have self defense to have it, and allow those school members who don't want to defend themselves to opt out.
There will be psychos. If not a gun, a machete. If not that, a bomb or a gas. If a nut job wants to kill, a nut job will find a way to get it done.
For example. There were no calls to outlaw planes after 9/11. That's makes as much sense as outlawing the best means of self defense, our privately owned arms. In fact, simple box cutters - not guns - led to over 3,000 dead people that day. The muslims wanted to kill, so they found a way to kill.
It's never the weapon. Box cutters and planes can do nothing on their own. It's ALWAYS, every time, without exception, the person behind the chosen weapon that makes it work.

“What does that say about us?

Well to begin with, it says that you are idiot. The only way to have saved all those kids in Sandy Hook, and most of the teachers that died, would have been to have armed security or armed teachers. That is the ONLY way their lives could have been saved. Nothing you do now or do in the future can bring them back to life. They are dead, because you failed to protect them. All that matters right now, are all those children and teachers who will be sitting in those classrooms on Monday, completely unprotected because you care what people say about you.

FYI - Some of the terrorist that will soon be attacking us, cannot even read English. And some of those Fast and Furious military grade weapons, are sitting in Los Angeles right now.

You nailed it.

Steele is acting just like a liberal: a totally emotional and irrational response to the most logical solution for protecting school children possible - at least one armed guard per school, larger schools with more - and arming teachers/administration.

Only problem with the 2nd part is 90% of public school teachers and administrators are anti-gun Marxists and liberals who will NEVER allow weapons in schools and never carry themselves.

Thus, only in Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina could armed teachers/admin work........

You conservatives best realize that the time for debate with leftists has long passed. The commies and Nazis will not debate you, they will demonize you, and you conservatives best realize that you need to demonize the leftist commies and Nazis in turn. Call them the every vile name you can think of. Trail these America-haters to dark parking lots and kick their butts.

We are at war.

I thought Wayne LaPierre did okay, and I don't even care for the man. 'Twas the first act, and Michael Steele didn't like it.

So what? To he frank, I'd be surprised - and I'd probably re-assess my own opinion - if Steele DID like it. This melanin-enhanced version of the linguini-spined nonentities the GOP-e puts into the RNC chair is "haunted and disturbed" by what LaPierre said? Bullshit. He's just trying to sound profound about the latest beltway cause du jour and avoid pissing off his meal tickets.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele should be released from his position immediately for such an irrational and hateful expression.

The Sandy Hook massacre victims deserved to be protected. As do our children in schools nationally.

How dare Steele say otherwise! Shame on Michael Steele and the GOP party officials for allowing him to continue in his position!
