NEW ORLEANS – A Louisiana woman ran afoul of police when she gave her neighbors an unusual holiday greeting, hanging Christmas lights in the shape of a middle finger.

Sarah Childs was in a dispute with some of her neighbors in Denham Springs, just east of Baton Rouge, so she decided to send a message with her decorations. Neighbors complained and police threatened to arrest her, so she and the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana sued the city.

A judge ruled in her favor Thursday.

"I imagine it will be back up before too long," ACLU of Louisiana executive director Marjorie Esman said of the display.

I think its right time for the people of Denim Springs to let Childs know how they really feel about her so called Christmas Decorations! That's right! Take a little drive around her home in droves and voice your horns, etc. I'm sure the neighbors will understand......

What a peach. *sheesh*

Now the kid a few houses down from me with the drum set doesn’t seem so bad. At least he’s good enough to shut things down by 9pm on the nights where he’s practicing.

Not true. Who’s virtue? Suppose the community is a bunch of atheists and they don’t want Jesus on your front lawn. No. There is a reason the First Amendment is the first.

Say, a few strategically placed colored paint balls on her roof will blend in just superbly with her vulgar light display. Santa and reindeer wont mind either.

Every pipsqueak thing is a “CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUE” in this country nowadays. Courts must be involved, and deep thinkers must remind everyone of the 1st Amendment, because we never ever heard of such a thing.

I think I’d like to know what the dispute is about and who started it before voicing an opinion. The finger lady may well have a good reason to flip-off her neighbor. I have one who sure deserves a finger...maybe even a whole fist!

License is not liberty.

James Madison on liberty and licentiousness:

The sophistry of a distinction between the liberty and the licentiousness of the press is so forcibly exposed in a late memorial from our late envoys to the Minister of the French Republic, that we here present it to you in their own words:

I agree that she can do. She just shouldn’t do it.

She can be shunned by Christians in the community, too. She’s an aggressive dark soul...an attention whore.

God sees what she did there.
