Not surprising. It’s an uber liberal rag catering to the free stuff crowd.

Bunch of animals.
FReeped it!
Got on another computer and voted again.
Now up to 29%.
i don’t support it. i support letting adults working in the school with ccw and any other adult with ccw carrying on school grounds.
we don’t need expansion of the police state. citizens can police themselves, government is never the best and first answer to everything.
Thanks, Red
Sure, put an armed rent a cop in every movie house and lots of em in every other Gun free environment. They will need certifications of course and distinctive attire to better recognize their position as officialism gun barbers. Lets just see, Brown shirt would be a good start...
Wain LaPue is a shill.

Actually, I do not, as presented.
I do not want identified armed guards or police in the schools....
I want the staff to be trained, armed and ready to use their training and weapons.
The shooter need not know who is or who is not armed and willing to kill them.
The media quickly turned this into “one in 7 cops will be pulled off the streets”. BS - there are plenty of retired cops, well trained responsible citizens and military that would do this for nothing.
Chat with the young teachers and the kids? Free lunch and computer privileges? I volunteered in the armed pilot program after 9/11. I’d train any teacher to shoot. I’d do it again for nothing. Sign me up coach.
I’m with you. Committees of Safety need to be formed in order to set the parameters of the county program, then vet all the volunteers. The background investigations come from county funds. We need to change the culture and get back to building the local militia for this job.

I am pro 2nd Amendment and voted NO.
Our schools are already like prisons. We don’t need to make them more so.

When I was in high school armed black panthers stormed the place and briefly held it hostage. As a result for the rest of my time there we had armed Seattle cops on duty every day.
Interesting times.
but u must understand...Its about trusting any idiot to teach/indoctrinate your kids for 180 day a yr VS. the trained person that will, in all likely-hood, never have to use his training to save those same kids....
Without some type of armed presence at the school anyone wishing to “copycat” what has just happened has several minutes of free fire time. More than enough to run up a significant body count with any type of gun other than a black powder replica weapon. I truly wish it was different but wishing don't make it real (except for Hollywood and politicians).
As for those who project their fears about an armed police presence what result would they really chose from: A live child with some fear of an armed police presence or a dead child free of such fear? People in Connecticut thought they had a third option (the traditional American mindset) until last Friday when they learned differently.
Most of the schools in my county already have armed “resource officers” in the schools. Big freaking deal.
Cops are armed wherever they go. If they sit armed in their own office near the school administration offices what’s the freaking difference if they are seen by the kids there or at the mall or local store?
I was at a JROTC meeting once and an off-duty officer sat across from me. Guess what? He was in plain clothes and armed. The kids could have cared less.
Sure, I’m all for letting teachers have the option to carry. But the Black Helicopter types here, and in the media, are making an armed cop inside a school sound like a squad of SWAT officers camped-out in the cafeteria 24/7.
No, to police officers in schools.
Did we not learn our lessons with DHS and the TSA? Give the government/controlling authority a drop and they grab an ocean.
I would prefer to have a few well-trained administrators/teachers in the schools, former military parents if they must, but NO to police officers/guards/government/some new stupid organization that will need a freakin’ czar to run it.
I support NRAs proposal for putting armed police officers in schools in every county that voted for Romney.

C’mon, that’s not what the vote is about.
An alternative would be an administrator or two trained to handle a gun. This could be locked up until needed. He/she needs tactical training, too, of course.
Up to 36% yes, 60% no now - does anyone really think that 26 innocent people would have died in Newport had there been an armed guard of some type present when Mr. Lanza started to shoot his way into the school???.....
By the time you get to where the gun is locked up and get it unlocked, it will more than likely be too late.
Our schools are already like prisons. We dont need to make them more so.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Let them be shot then. No problemo, eh?
At Columbine, there was a deputy sheriff in his car outside the school. It took him a while to respond, but when he did he traded fire with one of the killers. They exchanged about ten shots. I am thinking of a gun in the main office, with someone in that office able to use it. He/she would be a lot closer to the action than that deputy. Think of the analogy of a fire extinguisher.
The idea is an epic fail. More FedMob intrusion into the states? The Feds have no business in the schools in the first place.
Yes, that’s exactly what I said. Let’s shoot all 1st graders
Yes it is. It is asking us if we want to live in lock-down everywhere.
I agree. We need to do away with the “gun-free zone” nonsense and simply allow legally licensed citizens, including teachers, janitors, coaches, whatever to carry concealed where permitted by existing law.
I have to believe that someday cities like Chicago, New York,Detroit, Distr. of Columbia, etc will see the light and stop stifling the 2nd amendment.
Where this can’t be done under existing laws or regulations, then armed contractors can be hired, but they must not be government employees!
If we make schools, (all schools), NON-GUN-FREE areas then those that can and WILL carry, (concealed or not), will step up and protect themselves and their charges.
If the BAD GUY does not know if someone is armed or not, things will change in a BIG way, trust me. You don't want to mess with me because you don't know what I can or will do to protect my kids as well as the children of others. I don't want to mess with you because I don't know what you can or will do to stop me if I were to try something so stupid.
I am quite comfortable with that arrangement and I am prepared to bid you good day and go my way and leave you to do the same. I am also willing and prepared to assist you in protecting you, your family and your right to do same if needs be.
The right thing to do, in my opinion, is: “NO GUN FREE ZONES” as these are established and advertised as “UNAPPOSED KILL ZONES” for the “BAD GUYS” to use as hunting grounds at their pleasure.
GOD Bless,
RAWGUY

A Rather Modest Proposal.LOL.
Just make home schooling compulsory. The public school system has just died, having outlived its usefulness by 2 decades.
Shooting Galleries where children are summarily slaughtered without the slightest chance of the exercise of one of the most basic individual rights since the Magna Carta, that of self defence, set up for use by the possessed, the abominable and the insane , do not seem to conflict with any zoning laws that I have seen.
Bizarro world has indeed arrived here in the United States of Zimbabwe.
What if that someone is in a meeting or called out of the office. In order for a firearm to be useful in a time of need, it must be immediately available.
And suppose the cop is outside in his car attending the kids who are smoking? That was the case at Columbine. If the White House guard had been standing by the door at the Ford theatre, as he was supposed to, Lincoln would have lived out his second term.
Good point.
I also suggest that if I were in the audience and armed that night John Wilkes Booth would not have made it off that stage or I would have died also trying to kill him.
It would not have saved the President, as he was already shot by that time, but it would have established an expectation for those who would try such a thing.
In answer to the supposed question: Yes, I would have been armed and I would have gone after Booth. Also, it is not likely that I would miss if I shot at him unless he shot me first.
It is a moot point, to be sure, history is what it is, but it is also just a matter of one’s own set of values and what one is prepared to do at any given moment in time. I wasn’t there so we will never know that outcome, will we.?

First I don't believe those people assigned for security have to be police officers.
How many 6 and 7 year old kids drive to school and smoke?
The LEO in the small town where my grandchild goes to elementary school pulled his deputies out of the headquarters when they are assigned to desk duty and put them in the school. They do their paper work there. The school gave them an office. Now the children are protected and the officers still get their paper work done. No extra cost. That is using common sense to solve a problem on the local level. No gov. needed.
How about a security system designed and installed by professionals in the business instead of school administrators paper programs that have been rescently accepted as adequate by the teachers union president, “we dont need an armed camp we need safe and nurturing environment for our teachers and students” Parents look beyond the emotion these cretans are once again hoping to calm your fears with NOTHING but the same, your children are still in danger guns or no guns
While I agree with the NRA’s basic idea I would prefer we allow (selected) teachers to be armed.
I don’t understand the problem here. Every school in America has at least one security guard already. JUST ARM HIM!
The point I make is that the policeman may also be out of position. There is no sure thing. All you can do is to minimize the damage.
The audience was confused, giving them little time to react. Only in movies does the hero always react with lightning speed. In real life, it is the rare individual to who is able to react in time.
