We here in Rock Hill SC have had SRO’s (School Resource Officers) in our Middle and High schools since 2000.
They are armed Deputy Sheriffs.
They have not been a problem, in fact the kids confide in them when they won't talk to school teachers or admin.
] They feel that school officials are under no obligation to keep information confidential, where as the officers do.
The biggest benefit is this has kept the “gang” element from Charlotte at bay.
Our SRO’s pick up vital intelligence and are a large factor in keeping crime down
