Private sales are the safety valve that prevents effective gun registration.

Gun registration is gun confiscation.

Private sales are the safety valve that prevents effective gun registration.

After I recently lost all of my handguns in a boating accident, I felt that I was no longer responsible enough to own any firearm. I recently sold all of my long guns directly to a friend. Now I have no fear of gun registration.

There is no such thing as a “gun show loophole”.....in my state, it is not illegal for a private citizen to sell a weapon to another citizen, whether in his home, in a grocery store parking lot, or at a Gun Show.

Common sense dictates that the seller should exercise due diligence in determining whether the buyer is legally allowed to own a weapon, but it is not a requirement that the seller do a NICS check on the buyer.

The moniker is specious bullshit and just a canard to excite the easily excitable..

I agree. And the only way they can prevent private sales is to register all guns.

In terms of recent shootings and such, the ending of private sales is meaningless. In terms of gun confiscation and disarming the populace, the registration involved is everything.

I think they hope this will not be seen as the final line in the sand for most gun owners. I think they will be wrong about that.

Besides the likely probability of CWII and such erupting out of this quasi-stealth subversion of the 2nd Amendment, the back-up plan for many who plan to join “The Resistance” will be to have gun safes containing only a revolver, a bolt action hunter, and a hunting shotgun when they come for them - if the safes contain anything at all - with the really useful guns skillfully buried nearby off-site. I don’t think the gov will be able to metal-detect/mine-sweep the entire country.

Short of outright CWII or SHTF, if it comes to martial law and a citizen Resistance then the book “Total Resistance” is a good reference to have and to memorize. If sales are not out the roof on this book by now, they ought to be.

Exactly. Private sales are private. Without registration there is no way to enforce background checks on private sales.

Let them try for registration. BHO cannot do it by executive order and that dog won’t hunt in either house of Congress. He’s going to likely go after high capacity mags.

I’ve said this here many times. Buy from someone who is selling so that you will have one that the imperial federal government commie cop thieves will not know that you have it. I will not give up all my guns. I will have something to protect us with after they drag them out of us. I fully expect the government to have the IRS involved in the guns grab. They will tax you to death till you give them up. They know what we have when we bought them. They will say till you turn those in, you pay 50 or 75% in fed taxes or something like that. No need to go door to door. It is coming. All the other stuff we feared coming has come, so shall this.

Is there any evidence that any of the recent guns were purchased at gun shows? No?

Then why is this even being discussed?
