Our area is ahead of the curve on this one, but the majority of Hillsborough County voted against freedom when the dick-tatorhead won in this county. Guess when the left is not giving them rides and booze and/or directing them how to vote, they do not particitpate. Big surprise there.

An armed society is a polite society. If it is known that our children are protected by deadly force it is less likely that someone will seek to use deadly force against them. This policy seems to work well in Israel.

We have a good supply of returning vets who know their way around weapons, can following training instructions and act independently. Each state should institute a 'hire a vet' program where the armed guard in each school (two in some schools) should be paid $50,000 per year with benefits and body armor appropriate to the locale (in detroit, maybe an APC).

Liberal bastard democraps demand armed guards for their money (banks) and their elected democrap shills (Capitol Hill security is always armed), but they demand all law abiding citizens be disarmed in the twisted magic thinking belief that that will protect their offspring/future liberal vermin.

Maybe police buildings should be part of the same structures as schools. Or within one hundred yards of a police station. Satellite stations.

Another thought is that police rotate (walk) through a school several times a day.

That would cost about ten billion dollars a year--for a bunch of guys to stand around chatting with the school secretary for years on end, waiting for lightning to strike. Might as well hire Walmart greeters for half the price instead.

Should they have metal detectors and X-ray machines too? Maybe just hire TSA flunkies like the airports do?

If a particular city wants to spend its education $$ on hiring armed guards, let them do that. But there’s no reason the federal government should be forcing it or funding it.

The best federal solution is to remove federal restrictions on carry in schools, then let the locals figure out how they want to do security, whether just let CHL staff carry (which they should be anyway), or actually pay for guards to be posted.

The local police should already be walking through schools randomly, as part of their community presence programs. Not just because of this. But I guess $150 tickets for going 10mph over on highways are more important than building up community rapport.

Several of the ladies in my CAS club are teachers at one of the local high schools. I wouldn't want any of them shooting at me.

If every school replaced their most worthless teacher with an armed security guard it might be a good tradeoff, and would reduce the cost to near zero. Or maybe each school could do with one less bus driver. Doesn’t Obama want to hire 100,000 more science teachers, or something like that? I would imagine we will get zero bang for our buck from that. My point is there is a way we could solve this problem if we wanted to solve this problem. Instead I think we would rather NOT solve this problem and use it as an excuse to disarm the American public.

You are going to catch hell on this one Buzzard..

The Freepers in here who want armed guards in schools have been on my ass like a hip pocket.

I don’t know the cost but it wouldn’t be cheap and each one of them would join the SEIU, You would get what TSA gets for employees.

I believe in having an officer at every school as much as I believe in the school chef grinding up and grilling every attempted mass murderer killed on school grounds.

Hey, I have an idea.... as Republicans, we’re supposed to support LOCAL control of education. So why don’t we let local school boards make this call? You really want the Feds mandating something like this? I hate this idea.

I voted yes because that was really the only option. The assumption will be that NO votes are for no firearms in schools or anywhere else, a responsible poll would have at least had a place for “other”. My other would be to have NO gun free zones. Teachers, administrators, cafeteria workers, maintenance, visiting parents, any who wanted if they are eligible to buy a firearm to carry it concealed. Our schools, post offices, courtrooms and houses, government offices, theatres, hospitals, churches, all would be more safe.

I arrived at school on Friday to drop off my kids—there were two armed guards in police uniforms at the front entrance to the school.

I knew my kids would be safe that day.

Other parents spoke negatively about the guards. Those parents may not understand the threat facing their children. If these policemen should not be at the school, then what is the point of having police at all, anywhere?

I understand the seriousness of the safety of my kids.

Rahm Emmanuel is a hypocrite. Chicago has 2 uniformed Police in each of their high schools. Emmanuel was trying to adios most of that program, but I don't think he has.

Police officers are considered so essential that when CPS (Chicago Public Schools) gave high schools the opportunity this summer( 2010) to exchange their police officers for $25,000 in return, only four (4) schools gave up both of their assigned officers while a dozen (12) gave up one of their cops.3 In 2010, there were 122 high schools in the CPS system. This means that only 3 percent of schools were interested in giving up both of their assigned officers while another 10 percent were willing to part with only one.

Where did that dollar number originate? Many schools already have security personnel who aren't uniformed.

Fire the school publicist, the assistant coach and the third level vice principal and there will be more than tnough money.

The task is a local one, not a ntional one. the talk about federal money is BS

We have had armed guards for years in the high school.

They were in one instance successful in stopping a shooter

Quit funding crack moms and fund deputies
