Early indications showed Egyptians approved an Islamist-drafted constitution after Saturday’s final round of voting in a referendum despite opposition criticism of the measure as divisive.

An official from the Muslim Brotherhood’s political party, which backs Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, said that after nearly 4 million votes had been counted there was a majority of 74 percent in favor of the constitution. Exit polls from the opposition National Salvation Front also showed the constitution passing, an official said. …

(T)he opposition accuses Mursi of pushing through a text that favors Islamists and ignores the rights of Christians, who make up about 10 percent of the population, as well as women. …

I wonder if Mr. Carter called Mr. Obama to congratulate the POTUS on completely undoing the Camp David Accords yet . . . ? This is not just socialism at work here: it is Nazism.

Fascislamocommunazism.. Whatever it is, it was done to please the United Nations while undermining allies of Western democracies (U.S./Israel). It’s tragic most Americans are clueless as to what team 0bama’s mission REALLY is.

Obama ushered in the Arab Spring. He will now midwife the “United Islam Republic” (Egypt, Syria and Libya). Did anyone really think Obama was going to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons? Appointing a certified dolt like John Kerry as Secretary of State makes perfect sense from the Obama perspective.

That’s just great. Now Egyptians are worse off than they were under Mubarak. The Muslim Brotherhood is efficient.

I don’t think Carter is even alive. I think they installed a motor in him and a remote control unit which is used by mentally retarded children. John Kerry-Heinz is a perfect administration pick because he will make Mrs. Bill’s tenure look less like a complete failure.

Obama did not usher in the Arab Spring. A poor Tunisian man who was totally frustrated with government bureaucracy set himself on fire. The shock to the Tunisians at this event and the availability of the internet and cell phones made this go viral and the rest is history.

So far only 4 million votes have been counted. This in a country of 81 million. If their vote count pattern is similar to ours, the small community votes will be counted before the big city votes. The small communities are probably more likely to be conservative and Islamic. These statistics may change, hope, hope, hope!!

I wonder if the media will ever admit how wrong it got Egypt? Maybe now it will occur to them that the majority of Egyptians are not the Google Marketing kid and his Cairo University buddies. The vast majority of Egypt is uneducated and wants religious government. That is what this revolution was all about. It wasn’t about freedom, it wasn’t about liberty, it was about creating an Islamist State based on Sharia law.

This Islamist (and downright socialist) constitution is likely to pass overwhelmingly. It's why Morsi and his bunch wanted to get it to the voters. They knew it would pass, demonstrate what the will of the people really is in Egypt and pretty much gut the opposition. The majority of Egyptians are uneducated and they support a Sharia state. The media sold us a story that the revolution was a bunch of forward thinking young people. The reality is they are only a small minority in Egypt, the majority want Sharia law and a disturbingly high number don't believe the Muslim Brotherhood are Islamists enough.

And the Coptic Christians are really in danger now. They will either totally submit or be exterminated. The same thing is going to happen in Syria. Obama’s Greater Caliphate project will soon yield is first poison fruit.

You miss the point. The Obama State Department knew or should have known that the intolerant fundamentalists were the most powerful well organized political group in these politically backward countries and would be in the vanguard of these power grabs. Revolution? Social justice? These countries will become even more backward and intolerant than was ever thought possible. Obama’s open support to these groups has made likely an Iran like fundamentalist state in North Africa. The region has become not only more repressive but dangerously unstable.

I know we influenced events in Libya, but I doubt we had much impact on the events in Egypt.
