If you thought the tale of how Mitt Romney lost the general election was already told, you would be wrong. Because there is so much left to tell, like how Mitt never wanted to be President anyway.

The answer to this is quite obvious and likely involves misinterpretations. Of course romney wanted to be president. As others said no one subjects themselves to that process for the heck of it. However Romney probably said the presidency is a hard job and he isn’t looking forward to it or something.

Astonishing how many of the best or GOP front-running candidates (or front-running "non-candidates") in 2008 and 2012 didn't want to be in the race at all.

The true libertarian (small "L") is a lover of freedom and not inclined towards politics or government which is one reason why the Left seems politically to always have the upper hand - they are the party of government and politics.

The true Right wants to be in politics and government to work themselves (and others) out of their governmental jobs. But who wants to work themselves out of their job? Not many, which is why the Reagans of this world are so few and far between. We certainly need one now more than ever.

The opposite, of course, is true with the Socialist Bureaucracy, which lives (taxes and spends) for the perpetuation and growth of its own existence and to #%$^&*!! with those from whom they commit legalized larceny in order to perpetuate their existence and growth. That's why tyranny is tends to be short lived - it dries up and kills the source of their funding,

In the primary he campaigned like he didn’t want anybody else to have it.

He didn't. He wanted to ensure Obambi won a second term to punish the true conservatives out there. We had to be put in our place.

Also, since the GOPe are no different than the Democrats they do not mind the total destruction of our Constitution and the resulting communism. They think they will sate the alligator and never get eaten.

I was at two of his rallies here in Virginia and the level of energy I saw told me he absolutely wanted it. I`m not buying this at all.

To be sure, there`s much to criticize about his campaign, but the desire to win wasn`t lacking.

He wanted it but never wanted it enough. Romney and McCain wasted everyone’s time.

That pretty much sums it up for me.

IMO, Being president was just not an obsession for Mitt like it was with Hillary. And Barak, our first MULATTO president, is obsessed....with himself.........period.

IMHO, Mitt is content to be with his family. Now what the heck is wrong with that.

FR has soooo changed. You knock just about every Repub that ever even thought of running. The Dems must love it.

Romney wanted Newt to lose more than Romney wanted to be president.

Hits the nail on the head for me.

In 1992, Mitt said he was a Progressive. You are an idiot if you want him.

I’d love to have Mitt over the Marxist we have now. Perhaps you had another viable option in the last free election America will ever have.

Newt would have cleaned Obama's clock in the debates.

He's a take no prisoners kind of guy.

Mitt said himself if Jeb Bush had run, he wouldn’t have. Mitt just wanted to make sure no conservative got to be president. So he worked hard to knock conservatives out in the primary. But in the general election, it wasn’t that big a deal to him whether he or Obama won. There wouldn’t have been much difference in how they governed for the next 4 years.

Did you mean to ask if he would like some whine with that cheesy theory? Either way, I agree with that poster.

This site has definitely taken a turn toward the conservative side

This site has always espoused Conservative principles (??)

The obstinancy that many posters display is apparently reflected in recent Presidential election results -- fewer total voters each year since 2004, and the GOP turnout basically stagnant despite nearly 5 million less for Obama this time.

Given the independents surge for Romney, that's a drastic downturn by the base. And you know who's to thank/blame for that...

The fix was in back in 08 for him to be the candidate. He HAD to win against the others in the primary. After that, the game was to hand it all to hussein again. We don’t have a two party system. Remember, McLame saying we didn’t have to be afraid o an obama presidency. It’s all been a game.
