Obama and Bush Eulogies: The Grotesque and the Graceful

President Obama has a very serious ego problem, and when he goes off teleprompter, it sticks out like a sore thumb. His eulogy for Senator Inouye on Friday was grotesque in its focus on the speaker, not the dearly departed.

Unsurprisingly, President George W. Bush delivered a graceful eulogy for Gerald R. Ford's funeral, a model from which his successor should, but will not, learn. As David Paulin points out:

A great funeral eulogy and not a single mention of "I" or "me" by President Bush. He says "us" and "we" at two points, both only in respect to the American people. Bush's speech is devoted entirely to Ford's life, character, and public service -- and he provides wonderful anecdotes that brings these things to life.

What the h#ll was THAT??? Senator Inouye was mentioned once when Husein said he was "my Senator". Everything else was All Barry All the Time. He's talking about his trip to Disneyland??? Huh? WTF Over?

This is what happens when this clown goes off prompter. It happened in the first debate, it happened with Joe the plumber and now at this man's funeral. What a friggen embarrassment we have occupying the WH. I'm sure if you went out in the streets of Honolulu and dragged a wino off any corner , the wino could have given a more stirring and coherent eulogy.

I grow more disgusted by this occupant each day he remains in office.

For Obama, it’s always about himself. Because he’s overcompensating. He hasn’t accomplished anything himself, is a worthless piece of crap and deep down knows it. So he subconsciously is talking about himself not to impress us, but to try to impress himself. He’s an embarassment as a public official.

I couldn't agree more. It is unbelievable to me that anyone with a high school education or better would pull a stunt like that, even Obama. He has surrounded himself with leftist idiots for them to let him make a fool of himself like that, he must have thought he could make a few points with worshipers.

Though Sen. Inouye was a liberal he served our country well in the military, Obama could have given a great eulogy honoring him but must have figured it was another opportunity to beat his own drum, really pathetic.

The right should be ridiculing Obama at every opportunity to help puncture his lofty standing with far too many Americans that mistakenly fall for the media-driven PR that gives him cover. Most people have little idea what a narcissist Obama is and that - sans concrete accomplishments - he considers himself far superior to those he 'governs'. Ridicule him as the left (on a false premise of 'stupidity') ridiculed the admirable conservative, Governor Sarah Palin. It's the least we can do.
