Dental assistant Melissa Nelson was fired by her boss of 10 years because he felt her presence was a threat to his marriage
Horndog bosses in Iowa have a new tool to save their marriages — they can fire employees who are too hot for the workplace.
The state’s all-male Supreme Court ruled 7-0 Friday that an Iowa City dentist legally canned his female assistant because she was “irresistibly attractive” and a threat to his marriage.
The bombshell ruling came after Melissa Nelson sued her boss of 10 years, Dr. James Knight, for discrimination.
The married mother claims she was fired in January 2010 after Knight's wife became jealous of the pair’s relationship, which included harmless text messages between them outside of work.
“I don’t think it’s fair. I don’t think it’s right,” Nelson said on CNN Saturday night. The 32-year-old also said she was stunned to be fired.
“I worked hard, enjoyed my job, and one day it just came to a screeching halt.”

In a RTW state you don’t have to give an employee any reason for letting them go but I think if you do give a reason you open yourself up to some possible legal recourse. That said, after 10 years of employment I would think that would weigh in her favor.

It would have been nice, I suppose, to confess she was too pretty and ask her to be open to a job with a different dentist. Which would probably take all of 10 minutes to help her find, while his colleagues made the wolf whistles. But that would probably get him in worse legal dutch than dismissing the fox.

Her face is a bit better than average. If she is considered really cute, her body probably compensates well enough to send her into the cute category.
She may also have an engaging personality.

Harmless text messages? I'm pretty sure if I was engaging in "harmless text messages" they would be harmful to my physical and emotional health if my wife found them.

Heheh. I agree, shes not the greatest looking thing to be honest. I’d have mixed feelings about being fired for being irresistibly attractive though. I like the whole “Lamborghini in your garage that you never drive” line.
When I had to have the three dental assistants working at removing the wires from wiring the jaw shut (post surgical). I liked that the dental assistants were attractive. I made a joke afterwards. Every man’s dream to have three women working him over, they just laughed. (note jaw wired shut and the tracheosteomy was just removed 2 hours earlier, large clear adhesive surgical covering placed over the former opening that was closing).
It is unfortunate that the dental assistant fired stepped over the line with texting her boss. The wife must have a problem with insecurity though, both married. to think because the dental asistant is attractive, been in employed for 10 years, nothing happened. Wonder what the dentists wife looked like.

There is nothing wrong with firing someone when they are not working out. Obviously, this lady was not working out in a small business.
Wish we knew all the details...and we do not.
