TAMPA Bill McBride, a former Democratic gubernatorial candidate who once led Florida's largest law firm, died Saturday. He was 67.
Mr. McBride had a heart attack Saturday evening while in Mount Airy, N.C., with family, according to his wife, Alex Sink, Florida's former chief financial officer and also a former Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
Mr. McBride, who lost the 2002 gubernatorial election to Jeb Bush, was once managing partner of the Holland & Knight law firm. He later became a partner in the Barnett Bolt Kirkwood Long & McBride boutique law firm on Tampa's Bayshore Boulevard. He had been a captain in the Marine Corps and served on a multitude of boards, including those of the Florida Holocaust Museum and the United Way of Tampa Bay.

voted against mcbride and sink, but sorry to hear about his demise.
I hope he knew the Lord.
Wasn’t McBride involved in that Bill Clinton/jealous husband incident at the Palm Beach restaurant during his (McBride) campaign?
FYI for ping lists...
Bill McBride was an affable and courteous gentleman. My mother and I participated in a silent protest during a McBride gubernatorial campaign rally in 2002. While his liberal supporters were downright evil toward us and threatening violence, Mr. McBride called upon his supporters to be respectful toward the opposition.
RIP, Mr. McBride
