GOP Senator Hutchison On Gun Control: Semi-Automatic Weapons And Large Clips ‘Need To Be Looked At’
mediaite.com ^ | December 23, 2012 | Anjali Sareen

Posted on 12/24/2012 4:59:48 AM PST by Tailgunner Joe

Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison told Face The Nation host Bob Schieffer Sunday that she may embrace tighter regulations on high capacity magazines and semi-automatic weapons. “I think we ought to be looking at where the real danger is,” she said. “Like those large clips, I think that does need to be looked at.”

“It’s the semi-automatics and those large magazines that can be fired off very quickly,” Hutchison continued. “I think we should be looking at those mega-opportunities as one of the things that might be looked at.”

She also discussed the need to reach out to gun owners and “real hunters” to involve them in the conversation. “We need to talk to people in all areas.”

Good news, this RINO is retiring shortly and will be replaced by Ted Cruz.

Strange (not!) that FTN didn't invite the senator-elect to voice opinions.

Seemed to me the president-elect was everywhere talking sh!t every day, every where, no way avoiding his sh!!t.

Imagine FTN have out-going Bush to put his 2 cents on everything. Nope, can't see that.

The level of ignorance of politicians and the media and just people in general in regards to guns is astounding. And it is just appalling that the ignorant are allowed to shape the debate.

This woman has always been kinda... well... dumb.

Someone needs to lean on her so Governor Perry can send a real Texan in her place.

She’s a fool who’s being replaced by Ted Cruz. We already fixed our Kay Bailey Hutchison problem down here.

She’s gone. Retired. Don’t know how she kept winning elections. Ted Cruz is replacing her. Problem solved. She’s probably hunting a position on “President” Obama’s Constitution ignoring commission so that FUBO can claim it was a bipartisan commission, with even a (Faux) Texican on board.

Just remember

The Constitution (even if our elected officials ignore it) is not subject to change, without "due process" and anyone who decides that it needs to be arbitrarily "looked at" and ignored, as so often it is...

is a traitor and guilty of treason.

You can not candy coat treason.

IOW we need an excuse.. er, how about, inalienable rights are based upon religion therefore inalienable rights are unconstitutional.

Only human rights granted by the government are constitutional and permitting guns in the hands of the masses needs to be looked at.

I became an ardent anti KBH supporter when she virtually killed the border fence single handedly for Texas two years ago. That act showed her to be the RINO she was.

Is a “large clip” like a large gun? Don't you need a large gun to put a large clip into? But in KBH’s case, you need a large mouth to put that large foot into, and a small head to accommodate her small brain.

Lol! Well, well, surprise, surprise - NOT! Now that Hutchison is leaving she’s showing her true colors. Up to now she has been held in check by the strong 2nd Amendment culture here in Texas. But, now, she feels no such constrains - she feels free to show her true leftist self. How liberated she must feel......

No surprise here about outgoing Senator Hutchinson. She has long held gun control views while trying to pass herself off as being in support and being conservative. Anyone who knows much about her knows just how much she loves being a RINO and supporting liberal positions. I say good riddance at long last.

۞ "Since the bygone days of Ronald Reagan the present day Republican Party has taken on the appearance and all the demeanor of the corrupted liberal Democrat Party and has now become the party of appeasers, apologists, liberalism and an ever bigger government with all of the welfare largesse that emanates from it."

I don't believe in gun control but if anything passes, it should apply equally to everyone, including police and military. If we cannot have an AR-15, then neither the police or military should have them either. If this goes far enough, we might have to reissue the Trapdoor Springfield or the .30-40 Krag.

Anybody that wants gun control is either an idiot or a hypocrite that want to keep theirs but does not want us to have them.

I lean libertarian but when it comes to the Libertarian Party, I disagree with them on foreign policy concerns as well as their lax border standards. Still there are times with the exception of some, do Republicans really represent us?

one of the many reasons we chose in Texas not to make her governor.

call me sexist, but the most conservative women in the senate would not make the bottom half of conservatives in congress.

women are just too emotional. we need more realism in our govt officials.

I am not an advocate of gun control.I have no problem with law abiding citizens owning automatic weapons. I agree, when I see the GOP “evolve” on positions, move to the left, capitulate to Democrats, and demonize the true conservatives, I realize that they no longer represent me. Until there is a viable third party, we are forced to hold our noses and vote for the lesser of two evils, ie Romney and McCain. I long for a candidate who can clearly articulate conservative ideas and have the courage to implement them. Sadly, we have not had a candidate like that in 28 years, and may nev’re see again.

That was the feeling of the Texas voters in the four races she in which she ran for Senator. She got 61-67% to the democrat opponents ranging from 32-38%.

Yes, and actually, quite a few antique firearms are automatic, because the technology is that old already.

In repsonse to the picture of enbloc clips, YouTube has a video called “M1 Garand Ping Tribute”.

Also, as a reminder, The Washington Times, dtd 09/03/2010, reported that Obama is afraid of the M1 Garand rifle!

Why are there not FMJ’s in those clips?

hey I am not in the military nor am I bound by the Geneva convention. if I need to defend myself and the neighborhood from interlopers...nice soft points will put them down fast....

but truth be known I have LOTS (not saying how much) of both Danish and Greek surplus, FMJ 30-06 ammo purchased specifically for my Garands...many already in en bloc clips.

I reload, but I have enough of this stuff, that when my sons hunts with his Browning Semi auto deer rifle, we pull, with a collet type puller, the 150gr. FMJ bullets out and top off the rounds with Sierra 150 grain soft points...which shoots under an inch at 100yds and has taken 2 deer including a purty 8 pointer last month....

I bought a case of .3006 in Garand clips in bandoleers about 20 years ago. They were in bandoleers with the cardboard too. My M-1 is a Winchester. Its good that its not an assault rifle.

I am a proponent of the 30-40 Krag. First, its a good weapon and second, one can obtain one and it is considered an antique and doesn’t have to be registered. 30-40 Ammo is easily purchased right now. One can get a Winchester 1895 in 30-40 also and it doesn’t have to be registered either.

It doesn't matter what Sen. Hutchison has to say. The Supreme Court has been rather clear on this issue.

Heller stated that once the American people have chosen a particular type of firearm the Government can no longer ban it.

McDonald re-iterated that and incorporated the Second Amendment onto the States.

The Seventh Circuit just ruled that Illinois' ban on concealed carry is unconstitutional because the Second Amendment has been declared by the Supreme Court to be a fundamental right guaranteed by the US Constitution and is applying First Amendment principles to their decision. First Amendment principles are basically this: They can regulate time, place, and manner but they must allow.

Simply put, the Supreme Court has spoken and the legislators can do whatever they want, but the courts will overturn it. This whole "debate" is an exercise in nothing.

Looked at Article 1, Section 9...proscription on ex post facto laws. Says Congress shall not pass...not Congress may pass, President may sign, and Courts may overturn, but SHALL NOT PASS.

From the former Constitutional militia leader who broke Fast n Furious scandal:

“Whatever bill passes, if it passes, and it contains any of the above we are obliged to disobey it — obnoxiously and flagrantly. If they ban hi-cap magazines, we must make more, sell existing ones openly; if they ban private sales, we must hold our own no-check gun shows; if they ban even one type of semi-auto military pattern rifle, we must build our own “assault weapons” in contravention of the odious act. We must anger the powers that be to the point where THEY come at US. No Fort Sumters on our part. Let them kill us if they want to work their will upon us. After that, and only after that, it becomes the time of 4th Generation Warfare and One Hundred Heads.
And, although this is not the way to bet, if we make all that plain ahead of time, perhaps they will get the message and back off. May God grant it to be so.”
— Mike Vanderboegh
