Some interesting news has broken in the wake of the latest push for gun control by President Obama and Senate Democrats: Obama sends his kids to a school where armed guards are used as a matter of fact.
The school, Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, has 11 security officers and is seeking to hire a new police officer as we speak.
If you dismiss this by saying, "Of course they have armed guards -- they get Secret Service protection," then you've missed the larger point.
The larger point is that this is standard operating procedure for the school, period. And this is the reason people like NBC's David Gregory send their kids to Sidwell, they know their kids will be protected from the carnage that befell kids at a school where armed guards weren't used (and weren't even allowed).

and probably not with the same guns readily available to us peasants.
Paging Schmuck Schumer!
And exactly WHY should I be even mildly surprised by this? After all, King nObama and Queen Moose-chelle can do anything they damned well please, while the rest of us peons get to eat cake.
The ruling elite lives by a different set of rules than the people who pay the taxes.
The ruling elite has inflation protected pay, medical insurance and pensions. They do not obey the rules they make for us slobs who go out and work.
Armed Security for me, and a gun-free zone for thee.
After all, when it comes right down to it, the Obamai don’t care if the law allows you to kill your offspring in the womb or if you decide to let it live that it gets killed in a school shooting.
Despicable hypocrites.
special pleading
Definition of special pleading, noun
Argument in which the speaker deliberately ignores aspects that are unfavorable to their point of view:
“He has produced a piece of special pleading that does not wholly stand up.”
Example: “Wayne LaPierre and the NRA are idiots for arguing that armed guards belong in schools. Guns don’t belong in school ... uh, unless it is a school that my children and Obama’s children attend.”
David “Howdy Doody” Gregory
I was thinking more likely 11 that are known... Not to mention that many privileged children have their own security, not just the Secret Service for the first children. That school is armed to the teeth and the parents seem fine with that, the liberal parents just don’t think the rest of the nation’s children deserve the same. I think all children are important enough to protect.
But of course...
Congress doesn't have to use Obamacare.
Congress doesn't have to obey its own labor laws.
Congress is elite and doesn't have to obey the rules it imposes on the rest of us.
Frankly, I'm surprised Congress has to pay taxes.
Congress pays taxes?
I thought so, but given your question, I thought I'd check. The answer is, yes they do.
See http://www.ntu.org/on-capitol-hill/pay-and-perks/do-members-of-congress-pay-1.html
Maybe, just maybe because it needs to be said as often as possible in every forum possible. Someone from our ever vigilant press corps should ask Obozo about the guards at his kids' school at a Press Conference - but that will NEVER happen - not even with Fox.
I have been saying on various threads since this first happened that the Obama daughters have armed guards - so aren’t the rest of our children worth protection as well? Are those two MORE special? Very annoying!!
Thanks for your reference. Wouldn’t that be neat if lawmakers had to do their own income taxes? Justice. LOL
Liberal thy name is hypocrite.
I find it ironic this is historically a Quaker school.
“.... so aren’t the rest of our children worth protection as well?”
Of course not, silly. Our children are peasants. They are simply cogs in a machine.. future work horses. The children at Sidwell Friends are “privileged” children. Thus, their lives are far more significant to our country than ours.
***It is actually more than annoying. It shows the disparity of those in “power” vs “those of us who aren’t”. What is truly frightening is how easy the politicians, media, celebrities etc.. who are so willing to protect their precious kids and allow our babies to be targets.
Guns are just a smokescreen for the complete meltdown of our secular society.
Merry Christmas
"All pigs are equal. Some pigs are just more equal than others."
prolefeed: the steady stream of mindless entertainment to distract and occupy the masses
George Orwell described the attitude of socialists towards the proles (plebs, Rome; lumpen proletariat, Marx): “Proles are not human beings.”
They would not consider the safety and well-being of our children by guarding them anymore than they would post guards at cattle feedlots, except to keep them from escaping.
Surely you have noticed that when the subject is raised—as LaPierre did the other day—about protecting public schools, as private schools are protected, the MSM quickly denigrates the idea (”More guns in schools?!”) and turns the subject back to gun confiscation.
“Gun control” isn’t about controlling guns; It’s about control, period. And I know—don’t call you `Shirley.’
The point is that they are extra special people.
The rest of you/us, obey the laws, be confiscated and be happy about it.

Not really- They are up to their old old tricks: viz
"PACIFIST QUAKERS ATTEMPT TO DE-PACIFY IROQUOIS WITH FIREARMS, BUT NO SALE
1755? Pennsylvania Quakers try to sell arms and ammunition the Iroquois but fail:
``If you are inclined to carry on a War against any Nation, we have everything fit to kill Men with in plenty, such as Guns, Swords, hatchets, Powder, Lead, clothing, and Provisions, which we are Ready to furnish you with...If you should determine to strike the English you must kill the Soldiers only, and not us for we have no hand in the War nor will we concern ourselves with it but supply you with everything in Plenty, as we have enough. And if you should Determine to strike the French, we will likewise furnish you Plentifully, with everything for that Purpose.`` ,
`Against the acts of the Pennsylvania Quakers and traders, royal officials, Denny, Johnson and the army made such determined opposition that the scheme collapsed.`

But if they did not set up school children in defenseless victim zones, how would they justify disarming the people?

For the lurking libs who don’t believe their are 11 armed security guards at sidwell.
When they deny parents access to their children, "socialization" will be complete.
Better to require military combat experience for teachers instead and/or deputize teachers willing to undergo military combat training. That way, we could fire the Marxist claque we have now as "unqualified." After all, it's going to take that with all the gang bangers in the schools we have today.
FOUR LEGS GOOD, TWO LEGS BAD!
SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS...
The students at that school probably have four legs and are obviously MORE EQUAL.
“It’s about control, period...”
You are absolutely 100% correct, tumblindice. It is about control.. control of the masses. What do they fear? The masses uprising when they have had enough? The liberal machine used this tragedy solely for their own purpose.. gun confiscation. No real discussion about mental illness.. no real discussion about what drugs/if any the offender was taking and if they had some sort of negative effect. It is all about taking guns away from the average working Joe.
Yet they incrementally want to take away the safety and protection from the law abiding, tax paying peons...
Could anyone not see this coming 30+ years ago?
Why would a school named “Friends” need guns when it exists in a gun free zone (Washington, DC)?
What are they armed with, muskets?
Since Democrats hate rich people so much, why don’t they advocate requiring highly overpaid teachers and administrators — those making more than $60 thousand a year, for nine months’ work, of course — to contribute a small percentage of their salaries to hiring security guards for their schools?
Seven of the dead in the Connecticut shooting were teachers, so they’d be direct beneficiaries of such an arrangement.
However, so obsessed have liberals been with blaming gun owners in the post-shooting hysteria, whom they apparently hate even more than rich people, that there has been no discussion of any other possible solutions to the security problem than gun confiscation — a completely unworkable ‘’solution.’’
So far, the only beneficiaries of the tragedy have been gun manufacturers and gun-sales personnel, whose merchandise has been flying off the shelves. And, if the gun-control hysteria continues, Republican candidates will also benefit in future elections.
The Democrats have not emphasized gun-control in the past few election cycles because they know it’s a losing issue for them. But if they want to not only bring it out of mothballs as they’re doing now but also continue to wave it in everyone’s faces, good, they’ll be making a lot of Republicans’ days.
I think that the taxpayers actually pay the taxes for the federal employees and Congress. Our tax dollars pay their wages - so, the taxes paid out of those come from where? Our tax dollars. Does this make sense? It does to me. LOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
The elite get protection. We masses have to fend for ourselves.

Well?...Here's a question:
If Obama, Kerry, McCain, Kennedy, Romney and the kids of the other elites don't need to learn to get along with every dysfunctional cultural class in America, why should my homeschoolers have to? Huh?
Anyway.....This is just one more example of why what is good for the elites ( effective defense) is denied, by threat of armed police and court action, to the rest of us. And.....The extra salt rubbed into the wound is that citizens are under considerable police threat to **PAY** for these government kiddie prisons! ( opps! “school”) What an abomination!
In some ways real convicted felons are safer than our nation's kids in their gun free zones.
I just read this post to my husband. His quip: “Obama has been good for gun sales!”
Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.
This is my thought too. Maybe they are Quaker in name only.
uhhhhhhh...
For a minute I thought you were talking about Russia, China, or Cuba. They really have redistribution of wealth you know, cause they’re socialist.Gosh, I can hardly wait till our Utopia is complete!
Remember the press conference where a reporter asked Carney how many guards the president’s daughters’ school has? And then the follow up question about why that school deserves guards as opposed to other schools?
I thought it was a Quaker school?
The elite have a do as I say, not as I do mentality.
