Casino/hotel magnate Sheldon Adelson says Republican congressmen should accept a tax increase to solve the fiscal cliff.

“I’m a citizen first and a partisan second,” Adelson, who provided more than $100 million to Republican candidates during the last election cycle, writes on Politico. That sum likely makes him the largest single donor ever. …

Follow the money, eh. GOP-e money equals GOP-e policy, and if the biggest donors say increase taxes, they obey.

Leave it up to Ubama whether we avoid the imaginary "fiscal cliff" or not.

It's his ballgame. Make him own it.

Somebody tell Adelson that his boy lost and he should go away. Republican party leadership is being taken up by people who know what to do and who don’t like killing babies. There’s little room for Adelson in that crowd.

Sorry, Sheldon. You’re a very generous man. But this time you’re wrong. We need a major tax cut. The economy’s going straight to hell under O’s “transformational” policies.

Why not let Adlson donatet his money directly to the welfare programs and let him see how fast his taxes disappear down that rabbit hole. I get tired of listening to these rich millionaire liberals gripe about how they need to pay more taxes WHEN the TV cameras / MSM is interviewing them. The dumb libs haven’t figured out that these guys are huge donors to liberal politicians and that the only reason they are making such ludicrous statements is because it’s FREE PR for whatever product or service that they’re peddling...sheesh...

The GOP should agree with the Democrats on everything while blaming Bush for all failures. Then we could all get along.

We need a complete re-write of the tax code, nothing less will save us! The Tax code is skewed to the point that a large minority of people pay nothing and in fact get a check from the IRS just for filing a form.

Which leadership is being referred to here? Sounds like good news but too late.

Maybe he should have spent some of those millions helping find the birth certificate, might have found one. Probably a better return on his investment.

I agree. Nothing is preventing Sheldon from donating his wealth to the
Federal Government.

The fact that his wedding chapels perform gay “marriages” helps explain Newt’s retreat there.

in fact get a check from the IRS just for filing a form.

Not even required to be living here or living at all.

How about we start with Congress passing a budget. Then we can work on the rest.

Harry Reid needs to get off his ass and do his job and stop pointing fingers.

Personally I believe the fiscal cliff is a made up event anyway. Something to keep the talking heads and low IQ Obama voters occupied while other events unfold.

We need a rewrite that ELIMINATES the federal income tax.

Originally, way back a century ago, it's Republican sponsors said this tax would affect a mere 1% of taxpayers. Now it affects 53%!

What a lie that was ~ and what a total failure. This is just another federal program to be eliminated.

YES!
The tax code and regs total (last time I checked) 16,845 pages of almost-incomprehensible gobbolygook.
Just getting a damned copy costs you $1153 at the GPO.

(and that doesn’t even begin to address the volumes and volumes and volumes of court decisions that also tell you how much you have to pay)

All this krap is a really significant drag on the American economy, by its sheer weight volume and cost of administration and compliance.

AND THEN we get to the Unfairness of much of it, TOO....
(as others here have already begun to point out)

NOT. And most certainly NOT without spending cuts twice as big.

There’s a dirty little secret out there.

The big money people who make big money contributions to the politicians are not conservatives who want lower taxes or smaller government.

The big businesses are almost as bad as big government with their promotion of bigger government like Obamacare, illegal immigration, “sustainability” to fight the alleged man-made global warming etc. etc.

If conservatives authentically oppose the GOP-E or try to start a third party, big money will not follow them.

This is the Adelson guy who gave some money to Newt. Did he do that to help split votes for a Romney win in the primaries?????? I have no answers, but big money in politics does not equal conservative convictions.

Its a pantomime.
