Any Christmas song list without “Christmas at Kmart” by Root Boy Slim in the top 10 just can’t be taken seriously.
must just be me but I didn’t see anything resembling a ‘carol’ in the whole list.....
my favorite is and always has been O Come O Come Emmanuel
**holding hands over ears** Make it stop, please God, make it stop!
Christmas At The Jersey Lily Lounge by Moe Bandy, and Daddy’s Drinkin’ Up Our Christmas by Commander Cody are pretty good.
Nor is one without Merry Twistmas by the Marcels!
And where is Christmas Island by (cover) Leon Redbone?
From someone who once owned a store in a mall, the worst song ever recorded is “Holly Jolly Christmas.” Play it every ten minutes. Pure torture.
Excuse me, where is Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis, by Tom Waits.
shame...no “I’ll be home For Christmas”
they did a pretty good job of bumping Jesus off the list , cant get any more secular than that
my favorite is Oh holy night
you'd think Silent Night or Joy to the World would at least get a mention
The list was just top Christmas songs. They have another one for more traditional tunes.
Merry Christmas From the Family
Robert Earl Keen
They probably just missed it. ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ - Vince Vance & the Valiants
That was the first thing I noticed, too.
Maybe if they’d gone with Merry Christmas Baby as recorded by Charles Brown insteada Otis Redding, the song woulda placed higher than 98.
No Slade “Merry Christmas Everybody”
No Kinks “Father Christmas”
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Frank SinatraNo offense to the Chairman, but Judy Garland's is the definitive version, IMO.
El Vez and his Lovely Elvettes Feliz Navidad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=IVD8pul1iis&list=PLJ6D_PQtF5r5SCA2LbOSbnpi7JSXKqxkm
Frank Sinatra - O Little Town Of Bethlehem (1948)
Bing Crosby - O Holy Night (1962)
Traditional Christmas Songs list:
Top 100 Christmas Worship Songs
List of Christmas Carols
And you posted this in “NEWS”.
Rancid - Christmas Eve (She Got Up And Left Me)
Silent night by Bing Crosby didn’t make the list he and his producer stated it sold more than white Christmas and there was some glitch in the sales numbers that made it appear white Christmas was higher. Just heard the story repeated yesterday on the radio.
Sometime soon, my son will call and start singing this song when I answer. I will have to hold back laughing as long as I can, he actually has quite a good voice, and we will then talk about the incident that Merry Christmas From the Family, by Robert Earl Keen, reminds us of. We can relate! Literally.
My husband hates the song and is not particularly amused. He does not like being reminded of a visit that was crazy from get go and cost him a game he had to forgo. Different strokes etc. LOL.
Robert says in one of his music videos that he merely put music to what he witnessed at one of his family gatherings.
My three favorites seem to be missing:
1) John Denver- Please Daddy, don’t get drunk this Christmas!
2) Various - I’ll be Home for Christmas
3) Springsteen - Santa Clause is Comin to Town
Christmas Time Blues--Roy Milton & His Solid Senders (1950)
” Christmas Wrapping “ by the Waitresses didn’t make the list? Best original Christmas song of the last 40 years
gotta look that one up
Not to mention “Please Daddy Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas” by John Denver
Gonna be pissed if I can’t find that one on the net
Christmas Wrapping is a great song
#1 Song - Hooray for Santy Claus (theme song from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians)
- the song is the best thing about the movie, btw
“2000 Miles” by The Pretenders
Where is, “ I want a hippopotomus for christmas”
and “Walking round in women’s underware” by
This is my favorite, read the lyrics and listen.
I am never leaving toyland.
Toyland, Toyland (Toyland!)
Little girl and boy land
When you dwell within it
You are ever happy there!
Mystical merry Toyland
Once you pass its borders
You can never return again! (not again!)
Childhood Toyland (Toyland!)
Mystical merry Toyland
Once you pass its borders
You can never return again!
#1 is #1 for me, Bing Crosby.
#23 nostalgia from childhood.
Many good ones :)
The radio station behind this list should be deported with Piers Morgan.
No version of “Baby. It’s Cold Outside” made this list?
Cute songs but only two or three actually have anything to do with Christ - how sad.
I tried to post something on this but got an error message so please forgive if it’s posted twice.
This is ridiculous! It’s origins are unclear but O Come, O Come Emmanuel (Latin Veni, Veni, Emmanuel) dates to the 8th century. I think that qualifies as Greatest of All (emphasis on ALL) Time. What do they teach in schools today?
Personally, I'd climb over broken glass to smash any radio playing this song. It literally puts my teeth on edge. Sorry.
“Christmas Must Be Tonight” by The Band
There might be five or ten of those I would consider listenable. The rest are ear pollution, IMHO.
Didn’t say 100 greatest Christmas CAROLS. It said 100 greatest Christmas SONGS.
