Tenth most popular request for kids' Christmas gift: a 'dad'

Doesn't this say more about the status of western culture than just about anything you've read recently?

Telegraph:

*********

When it comes to Christmas, it might be safe to assume children will ask Santa for an extensive list of toys, games and treats.

But a survey of their typical lists for Father Christmas has shown many have more serious concerns, requesting "a dad" instead.

A study of 2,000 British parents found most children will put a new baby brother or sister at the top of their Christmas list, closely followed by a request for a real-life reindeer.

A "pet horse" was the third most popular choice, with a "car" making a bizarre entry at number four.

Despite their material requests, the tenth most popular Christmas wish on the list was a "Dad".

The survey, of consumers at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City, found children aged three to 12 years also wanted a dog, chocolate and a stick of rock. Traditional hopes for a white Christmas were represented by a wish for "snow" in ninth place, with sensible youngsters also requesting a "house".

*********

Not a very scientific survey given the small sample, but significant nonetheless.

Children do not need fathers. They need lesbian mothers and courses in school teaching them the wonders of Feminist thought and homosexuality.

I saw a report on it and reports never lie.

Get these kids into a reeducation through labor facility. Next thing you know they will start thinking other unacceptable thoughts. That is how our perfect society crumbles and those damn tea partiers spread like a disease.

Why does the Telegraph article and the commentary on it ignore the fact that the most requested gift among the surveyed children was a sibling? It’s as if it is just barely acceptable, at a sentimental time of year, for the media to recognize that fathers are important to children, but only children are foolish enough to say it would be good to have a baby (and they’re ignored or quickly hushed up).

“Despite their material requests, the tenth most popular Christmas wish on the list was a “Dad”.

Wouldn’t be a bad result if 9 out of 10 kids lived in a home with a dad.

As the number isn’t even 50% anymore, the survey is just another sad indication of the rocketship to Hell our society is on.

It’s been a couple of years since my niece and nephew announced they were divorcing. Actually they did not announce it, we found out when their son told ours, while playing X-box on-line. He explained that he was going to have “twice as much stuff” and for a while it really looked like it; not only twice as much, but always the latest releases. Several months later, my son asked him how were things going. His answer? “It s#*@s”. Children need fathers, need a family, and grown ups who put their own pleasure ahead of their children’s needs are the epitome of selfishness in my book!

For so many parents, caring for a family is something they do when they really “deserved to be having a wonderful time.” And they let their children know it. Then when their children slight their own families they are baffled in the extreme.

It used to be that the trials and joys of a family were legitimate things in themselves. The the great Secular Preachers of Culture came along and told everyone that they were robbing themselves for no good reason.

My grandson has become one of the fatherless sons...his father abandoned him when he was three. Left the state. Does not see him, call him or stay in touch with him. It is so sad and will colour all the rest of his days. I do not know how his father lives with himself. We are all blessed because my husband is the best grandfather in the world and has stepped in to be a role model and to love him.
