WASHINGTONLawmakers from both parties voiced their willingness Sunday to pursue some changes to the nation's gun laws, but adamant opposition from the National Rifle Association has made clear than any such effort will face significant obstacles. NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre dismissed efforts to revive a ban on assault weapons as a "phony piece of legislation" that's built on lies.
Democratic lawmakers in Congress have become more adamant about the need for stricter gun laws since the shooting of 20 children and six teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California is promising to push for a renewal of expired legislation that banned certain weapons and limited the number of bullets a gun magazine could hold to 10.

Why no licenses for speech? And why no limit on high-speed printing presses? Surely the framers never imagined a time when a printing press would be capable of running at thousands of feet per second, printing several million copies per day. Who needs such a device?
With the Christmas holiday almost over, it is time to quit the go-along, get-along and just say “no”.
Repeat as often, and as loudly as needed.
Nice touch on that AP moniker!!!
Aren’t they already limited?
Congress should have yearly legislation limits.
It’s such a joke. That psycho could have done the exact same damage with a 38 revolver, a pocket full of speedloaders, and a double barrel shotgun.
Exactly, it wasn’t the nature of the weapons that killed those children, it was the nature of the man pulling the trigger. He would have been just as deadly with a shotgun and a revolver if not more so given the fact that shotguns and revolvers tend to deliver a lot more more energy into the target than 9 mm semi automatics and AR15s.
So what RINO pieces of human filth are 'reaching across the aisle in the spirit of bipartisanship' now?
Name the liberal scumbags.
It is political suicide to stay on this topic and Dems and Repubs know it. Biden got the job because he’s a moron. If Republicans support any new gun control, they will be out of office. If Southern Democrats support any new gun control, they will be out of office.
This topic is just a distraction for the fiscal mess we are in.
Ex Post Facto laws are forbidden in the Constitution.
Yeah, that will solve everything:
Magazine capacity is important in a gun fight where your opponent is also armed. Against innocent children and helpless adults cornered in a gun free school zone, it really doesn’t matter. Almost any weapon produced in the last 150 years would be sufficient to do the deed long before the police show up.
Politicians are using this tragedy to pursue their long standing political agenda to disarm America. Ask them what they are going to do to protect innocent children, they won’t have an answer.
Administration Propaganda (AP) - The go to source of Bull Spew for the BSM.
Does everyone see how the Oppressive-Left wants to destroy liberty just rename guns as Assault Weapons and arbitrarily decides the value of high in high capacity?
There are those that are dependent and there are those that refuse. The Government should never be the option.
America was founded on those that refuse. God answers our need through prayer. The left refuses. I do not.
You are discussing freedom vs slavery whether you like it or not.
Next thing you know they’ll be limiting the number and capacity of our armed drones, and the number of US citizens on our kill lists.
We’ll have to get elected if we want more. /s
Looks like Kay Bailey Hutchison has crossed over to the dark side. Time to replace her.
Kay Bailey Hutchison is quoted in the article as wanting to limit mag capacity.
