New York newspaper faces backlash after publishing map of gun permit holders

A local New York newspaper is drawing the ire of its readers after publishing an interactive map that shows the names and addresses of thousands of residents who have handgun permits.

FTA:The newspaper separately noted that the reporter on the story "owns a Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum and has had a residence permit in New York City for that weapon since February 2011."
Oh, I get it the laws are for thee, not for me. The Journal-News WAS a left-of-center but halfway decent paper long ago. Any blood shed as a result of this stuns will be on the hands of those employed by the Urinal-Spews.

It would be nice if somebody found google or other maps to their homes, google “street views,” google satellite images of their neighborhoods, and lots of photos to recognize these creeps on sight etc. Cars, office where they work, all of the phone numbers and emails they use, all of it.

They want to invade privacy and cast aspersions? Fine. Turnabout is fair play.

If they publish a list of all the people who are armed, are they not, in effect, publishing a list of all those households that are unarmed and defenseless? Should not those people sue the paper for increasing the likelihood of their being robbed or assaulted?

Either that, or which houses to break into, to get weapons. The police believe that ex-con Spengler, who killed his sister, two volunteer firefighters, and wounded two other firefighters in Webster, NY on Monday, got his weapons from breaking into houses.
