The NLRB's Union Bonus--With the election over, the labor board guts the Beck decision on dues.

Christmas came early for Big Labor last week when the National Labor Relations Board handed down a pair of decisions that overturned longstanding precedent and will deliver a windfall to union finances.

On Wednesday, the NLRB voted 3-to-1 to gut protections for workers who don't want their money spent on politics. In states without right-to-work laws, employees of unionized companies are coerced into paying dues as a condition of employment. But under the Supreme Court's 1988 Beck decision, workers are allowed to withhold the portion of their dues that unions spend on political activity.

Unions must also maintain independently verified audits of their finances and provide members with proof that their assertions about spending practices are accurate. But the NLRB now says those requirements no longer apply and so-called Beck objectors are no longer entitled to see proof that their money isn't included in union spending on politics. Maybe the Securities and Exchange Commission should waive business audits too.

I hate what this country is becoming. Only a total implosion gives the chance for a better future.

Under Communism, America no longer is under the Law.

Fixed it for you. No need for that prepositional phrase. The proper clause is sufficient.

Minnesota governor forcing health workers into unions

http://watchdog.org/64567/port-minnesota-governor-forcing-health-workers-into-unions/

if the legislature takes up what Governor Dayton proposed last year, most of these workers won’t even get a chance to vote on whether or not to unionize (though they would be obligated to pay dues).

The only childcare providers eligible to vote on whether to unionize are those providers that are state-licensed and state-subsidized. So a small fraction of the providers will vote to unionize — and then, more than likely, all Minnesota childcare providers will be forced to pay union dues

“On Wednesday, the NLRB voted 3-to-1 to gut protections for workers who don’t want their money spent on politics”

This will backfire, the whole point of being union is for the higher pay, benefits, and their sacred protection. All the unions are doing are pissing off members.

Can this NLRB action be re-litigated? does a government agency trump the SCOTUS?

I just wish more states would move forward on RTW legislation. Its devastating for democrats and good for workers.

It has the added bonus of forcing the democrats to a defensive position.

Wow, a 4 member board, appointed by 0bama, can overturn legislation. Not surprised in the least, how else are they going to fund their politicians or bus the purple shirts from rally to rally?

And I’ll bet there is a sizeable portion of union members that didn’t even know that provision existed...or were too afraid to ask for the accounting.

Why is this surprising. Unions went full tilt for Obama. He has to pay them back.

This is payback-—simple.

"We have to keep an eye on the battle we face—a war on workers. And you see it everywhere there is the Tea Party. And you know there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what, they’ve got a war, they’ve got a war with us and there is only going to be one winner. It is going to be the workers of Michigan and America – we are going to win that war. All the way." He then urged the audience to vote in the coming election and in reference to the Tea Party, stated, "Everybody here's got to vote," Hoffa said. "If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize, let's take these sons-of-a-bitches out and give America back to America where we belong!"

James P Hoffa Labor day 2011.

He meant it and fortunately their attempted proposal 2 power grab blew up in their faces and woke the Michigan legislature up.

The NRLB has overturned a SCOTUS decision?

Time to go back to court.

The NLRB is still operating with a “recess appointment” that was made when there was no recess. So this will be litigated, providing another chance to overturn everything the NLRB has done since Obama illegally filled the positions.

...............yes sir!...........I TOTALLY agree......................our utterly corrupt democracy simply is incapable of comprehensive change!

but, no worries, QE 3 is going to pop the bubble soon! When printing money doesn’t work anymore, the party is over and the feds are out of money! And, no one breathing air on this earth knows exactly what will happen then! When the first shots were fired at Concord, or Fort Sumter, no one knew of the colossal result either!

The NLRB is operating unlawfully. 2 of its current appointees were put in with an illegal “recess appointment” while the Senate was still in session 11 months ago.

This is a Constitutional crisis caused by blurring the lines of authority and distinct powers granted by the Constitution. The Executive Branch is legislating and judging. Jobs it is not supposed to do.

Get rid of these alphabet soup agencies that legislate and adjudicate. It’s not their job.
